Your POV
"Tony?" I say while taking my keys out of my pocket. He turns to my way and suddenly looks relaxed upon seeing me amble towards him. "Y/N, thank God. There you are."
He steps aside to let me unlock the door. Prior to grabbing the knob, I hand him a bland look while still minding to sound inquisitive. "What are you doing here?" Hopefully he's not around to gloat about being right about what happened. I'm not in the state to take anything lightly.
But then I trust that he wouldn't do such a thing.
He tucks a hand into his back pocket and pulls out a small, silvery object from behind. "I just wanted to make sure you're okay and give you this." I scrutinize it for a few moments before taking it from him, tracing my finger along its red button. "What's this?"
Please tell me it's not some kind of detonator.
"Tracking device." My mouth twists into a smirk hearing him and he rubs the base of his neck, eliciting a little chuckle. "You don't have to worry about me spying on you because that only activates when you click the red button twice."
I hold it up with a fair amount of sass. "What do I need this for? "
He crosses his arms over his chest. "Whenever you need backup. You're heavily wanted, remember?"
Right. He plans on installing an upgraded security system as well and I really trust that it's not for stalking my every movement. I shove it in my pocket and thank Tony, opening the door and inviting him in for a refreshment.
He steps in after me and shuts the door behind him. I place the items I've bought on the kitchen counter and take them out one by one. "Kid, I'm really sorry."
I don't take my eyes off the items. "For what? "
I hear him pull a chair out from the table. "For last night and what happened at the facility." My hands freeze on the spot and I sigh heavily, casting off the memory. I stack the last of the items in the cupboards and close it, turning around leisurely to face Tony.
"Don't be. You were right." I head toward the fridge and retrieve two energy drinks from the freezer. I give him a heads up, tossing one bottle over to him and he catches it.
He undoes the cap and takes a quick swig. "It's not that I take issue with romance within the team, it's just you and Loki, " he flicks his hand in the air and sighs, "are completely polar."
I chuckle sadly and stare down at my bottle. "Cause I'm fire and he's ice? Yeah, I've said that to him a hundred times but he was just... relentless."
"Not really. He's a pathological liar and you have trust issues with people."
I think I've lost my appetite to drink. I put the cap back on and store it back in the freezer. The lingering mist in the compartment almost reminds me of his deep blue skin when he was in his Jotun form. Yet I don't want to be reminded of too much. I close the freezer door and pull out a seat in front of Tony. "Look, it's over with and we can just forget it ever happened."
"I'm gonna be a philosophical bastard just to make you smile." The hard line on his face curves upwards and it's contagious. "You can let your mind forget, but never your heart."
"I thought you wanted me to completely let go."
"I can't force you to let it magically vanish in a day. You have to take your time in doing so." I honestly was never mad at Tony for telling me what to and what not to do that night, just a little overwhelmed yet his nigh unnecessary
apology is appeasing.I get that he only wanted to protect me and I have nothing against that. I just wish he didn't pressure me into choosing.
"Nice necklace." His comment interrupts me from my quiet perpending and he has his eyes set on my necklace.
