Second Person's POV

-Timeskip cos it's 1am in the morning and I'm aching for chocolate-

"Here." Clint stands in front of you with a thermostat in hand and hands it to you. You take it, thanking him for the kind gesture. After the apprehension of the cryos downtown, they were brought in to S. H. I. E. L. D's HQ– with their abilities temporarily disabled– for deliberate questioning. Turns out they weren't the same subjects from the mission in the woods, they were sent out to find you and that's what the team is scouring for. You had spoken to Nick on the vague reason as to why they targeted you in the first place just before he barged into the interrogation room for further information.

Meanwhile, Loki was brought back to the Tower for a discussion with Tony and Natasha regarding what happened. You had been separated from him to be brought into S. H. I. E. L. D for brief questioning. You've spent the rest of the night in a chase and so you ask Clint if you could go home to rest.

"Sure. But thing is, Nick will notify you once they've dug into the entire thing. It'll probably take days so you have to be patient." He helps you up and leads you out of the place. Though he's barely up in the Tower, you still feel comfortable talking to him. He'd always taken his business round about the confines of S. H. I. E. L. D when the team members are tasked with separate missions– although you've just been assigned to move about during joint operations.

"I have something to ask you though before you go." He says, crossing his arms over his chest. You turn to face him and hold your breath actually expecting his question to be speculative. "Okay."

He cocks his head to one side, setting his mouth in a hard line. "What's the deal with you and Loki?" You squeeze your eyes shut at the question uttered.
Of course it would be speculative. Someone would notice soon enough, you thought.

"Nothing? Wait, why are you asking me this? "

He gives half a shrug. "There are just some things I noticed. Far be it for me to assume that you've-" His sudden pause gets you uneasy. "I've? "

"You've fallen for the conniving devil."

If you could choke on your own saliva, you would've done it by now. But you choose to keep your composure and respond nonchalantly, as if it weren't true. "Clint. How much can you see from a bird's-eye view?"

He shoves his hands in his pockets and  rocks back and forth on his toes. "Not much but I like to think I'm all-seeing when I'm in my nest."

"Right. Anyway, Loki and I, we're just trying to save each others asses professionally." That's half a lie told by you. He hums and squints at you, the corner of his eyes crinkling. "Y/N, sometimes professional means transition to something more once you let your guard down," it's as if he can almost see through you and the emotional barrier you've put around yourself, "and the way Loki held you in his arms last night when the agents took over– I saw it in his eyes and the comfort in your expression when you allowed yourself to succumb to how he was holding you."

But you couldn't let him or anyone know, and so you back up defensively, trying to sound unaffected. "I was tired Clint. I could've done the same if I were in anybody else's arms."

"I sure hope so. Because you'd be putting yourself and the whole team at risk of you dive into that decision." He pats you in the back, giving what may serve as a warning to what you've already gotten yourself into.

Loki has feelings for you, yes. He's shown you and you've developed the same feelings overtime, yet you yourself only know about it's existence. You aren't vindicating him or anything so that must be a justifiable addition. You'd be risking everything and everyone if you give in to that emotion. It's already hard enough that you can't bring yourself to drown in absolute ardency for it is the downfall of your life long composure.
