Second Person's POV
Discussing about the characteristics and behavior of both the Tesseract and Scepter with Loki sure took quite the time for Tony who still has to attend to his party preparations.
As the two men take their leave from the facility and enter an elegant silver car, Tony spews out a question that would likely make Loki slap him in the face with a hair flip. "Tell me, Rock of Ages," he sticks his keys into the ignition and squints his eyes at Loki whom he's gotten slightly pressured next to him, "what is going on between you and Y/N?"
Heaving out an exasperated sigh, Loki smirks. "You and I had just finished talking about age-old artifacts and now you want to deliberate over this?"
Tony scoffs and treads on the gas pedal, fixating his eyes on the road ahead. "Someone sounds affected. But I want to know what your plan is with her." His takes a more serious approach with his tone and Loki glances away. "I have been with you for months, Stark and devoid of any skulduggery."
"I know how you are, Loki. You're always ahead of everyone."
He could do no more than shrug proudly at that. "True." Tony sighs and continues admonishing him for an answer. "So tell me really, what is going on between you and Y/N."
"Nothing. What do you want me to say? "
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe something hinting that she's rubbed off of you." Tony is right. He could say even more but he'd make a complete joke of himself at how soft he would look if he admits such a thing. He doesn't show it to the rest of the world but to the girl who has become his world.
It hurts for him to be rejected by you but he's hold on to the feeling just as he had promised.
Loki clenches his jaw and shuts his eyes. "That's just a pathetic assumption, Stark."
"Maybe but you can't deny the fact that I've noticed you come so close to her." Tony avers, his hand gripping tight on the wheel. "I still don't trust you. Even if you do end up harboring something for her, just stay away."
The inner pain Tony's words is afflicting and yet Loki chooses to remain collected, knowing that he strives to do so for you. Tony relaxes in his seat and glances briefly at Loki. "A little token of appreciation for agreeing to mentor her, you're invited to my party." Loki turns his head at him and nods once. "It's appreciated."
Back at the apartment, you are stuck at crossroads as you rummage through your wardrobe for something appropriate to wear to Tony's party, feeling the slightest bit of disappointment at yourself for being such a tomboy most of the time. You only ever wore a dress to your graduation rite and took it off immediately after the ceremony. You feel doomed to looking quite inappropriate for something a tad formal as Tony's party.
Agitated, you groan anxiously and fall face first onto your bed. You lie prostrate for a couple of seconds before resolving to the only option you have left: reuse the dress you wore when you exited college.
You spring out of bed and look through the line of clothing once more, picking it out and scanning it from top to bottom. It's a silky black, knee-length dress with thin straps and a waistline that could very much openly conform to your curves which you feel quite uneasy about.
You smack yourself on the forehead and cringe at the thought of you walking in looking exposed.
Well, Mr. Stark said dress nicely, right? You think to yourself, reconsidering what he meant by 'nicely'. The dress very much needs some pumps to match with and you happen to have such lying about the room. Your rid yourself of nerves and get ready for the inevitable.
