Your POV
Moments after mentioning the significance of the date, Thor picks me up from the bed and spins me around effortlessly. I repeatedly smack his bicep, urging him to put me down since his manner of pivoting is getting me nauseous.
He apologizes softly and I shake my head. "What kind of person am I to nearly forget my own birthday?"
He jerks his shoulders. "You have got to remind the rest. I'm sure they would give you a wonderful day."
"That's last minute, party planning. Who knows, maybe they have separate tasks to deal with and, " I gesture to myself disparagingly, "I don't want to come off as an attention seeker."
He lets out a voiceless groan accompanied by a next level eye roll. Boy, he could send himself back to Asgard with that eye roll. "That is the point. Today's all about you. And you haven't had enough sleep to energize yourself later."
Jeez, when did Thor become a concerned mother?
"Thanks for reminding me. I need to rejuvenate myself with that sleep now." I drive him towards the door with little to no effort and he chuckles until he reaches the doorway. "I'm going to take you somewhere later that is if you submit to sleeping."
What is this? His last minute birthday present? A trip?
And he's boarded up a condition yet the look on his face is clearly imparting that I should really consider accepting his present regardless of conditions.
The smirk plastered on my face stays stationary until I give in. "Fine."
"Wonderful."
"I would still be happy even if you gave me a card."
"Nonsense. Besides, you're free of any other work tomorrow, correct?"
I nod and he clasps his hands together. "You are going to love it, trust me." He says, gesticulating dramatically. What kind of birthday trip is this?
I shake my head wryly as I twist the knob of the door, leading him out. "Whatever you say. I'll see you later, Thor." I wave at him and he gives me a sportive salute. "I better tell my brother to ponder on something to give you as well."
"That wouldn't be necessary."
"Oh but I will. Good night, Y/N." He bids softly and I shut the door. I haven't celebrated my birthday since my 18th so it's been quite a long time. But Thor's somewhat right, I have to enjoy amidst the danger that's after me.
Slipping my hoodie off my body, I dump it on the edge of the mattress and drop dead on the sheets, casting myself into the unconscious unknown.
"Is this thing on? Okay it is. Anyway-"
My ears get beaten up to consciousness as an obnoxiously deafening toot emanates from the intercom, causing me to shriek off the bed. I groan from such a wake up call and hear Tony burst out in laughter through the device. "I am genuinely sorry, kid. I knew you would still be asleep and so I had to."
I stagger up on my feet and approach the intercom. "What was that for?" I whine.
I can sense his quick shrug from this side. "Happy Birthday. You just had a spontaneous start, you're welcome."
By spontaneous, he probably means an immediate damaging of auditory nerves then I'll thank him for that one.
I rub my forehead with a rough sigh. "Thank you. For the wake up toot.""No problemo, kid. Why don't you come by the penthouse for a birthday breakfast?"
I pause and peer at the wall clock above me. It's almost 7 and I got to go work in the coffee shop. I don't have the heart to miss my pay day. "I'm sorry Tony but I'll pass for now. I got work in half an hour."
