Well everybody felt the need to scream at me to make a part 2, so here it is

The first thing Peter is aware of when he wakes is the hand in his. Then he feels the soft bed under him and hears the beeping of an EKG. He was alive. He'd failed and Mr. Stark had saved him.

But why? He didn't deserve to be saved. His heart sinks into his gut because he's alive. He doesn't want to be. You'd think if you saw someone jumping off a building you'd assume they wanted to be dead.

He whimpers in pain when he feels the bullet wound in his side. The person holding his hand stirs and his brow creases. "Peter? Peter can you open your eyes buddy?" He hears his mentor asks.

He purses his lips, shaking his head very very slightly. It hurt to move. "Come on-please." His voice breaks. Peter feels guilt bubbling in his gut. He was the reason Mr. Stark was sad. He was probably disappointed that he wasn't dead.

He finally peels his eyes open, tears threatening to spill as he looks at the man. Mr. Stark had dark circles under his eyes and they were rimmed with red. The man lets out a long sigh and smiles weakly.

"Thank god Peter. What... what were you thinking?" He asks. Peter looks away, staring at the wall. He shrugs and can practically feel his mentor's heart breaking.

"Your aunt is sleeping in the guest room. You've been unconscious for four days Peter." He says softly. Peter looks to him in shock. How had his bullet wound not healed in four days? Oh yeah, his metabolism was what helped heal him but when he hadn't eaten in weeks, it slowed his healing abilities down.

"I'm sorry." He whispers, his voice breaking. He should be dead... "hey Pete, come on. I know what you're thinking and it's not true. You are an amazing kid and if you.. if you were gone I wouldn't be able to take it and neither would your aunt." He says.

Peter knows Mr. Stark was lying. Tony gently grabs Peter's face and looks him in the eyes. "I mean it kid. You mean the world to your aunt. To me." He says softly. Peter starts to doubt himself.

Was his mentor telling the truth? Did they really care? "Yes, Peter. We really care." He says sadly. Oops, he'd said that out loud. Then everything just rushes to him and he starts sobbing.

Mr. Stark looks so heartbroken. He leans forward and wraps his arms around the crying boy. Peter stills, not sure what to do. "This is a hug. We're there." He says. Peter clutches the man like his life spends on it.

He feels safe in his mentor's arms. Safer than he'd felt in a while. And for the first time in a long time, he really thinks he'll get better.
