Hahhaahahahhaa this is what you get when I look at tumblr writing prompts for hours. I'm gonna make myself cry writing this. Prepare for angst. I'm almost sorry (edit for after I wrote it: I did cry I am sorry)

When Peter feels the hairs on his arms stand up he looks up with his brows furrowed, searching for danger. He realizes what it is when his mentor flies by the school with some sort of robot following him.

His mouth drops open and the whole class starts clamoring in shock. Peter takes one look at Ned and he understands. Peter rushes out of the room while the rest of the class was too excited to notice.

He changes in the bathroom, slipping out the window and swinging off in the direction he saw Mr. Stark go. He finally spots him just in time for the robot to shoot Mr. Stark with something and he goes flying backward into an abandoned warehouse.

Peter gasps in shock and shoots a web at the bot, noticing his mentor wasn't coming back out of the building. The bot seems only mildly agitated and shoots something at Peter.

There's a fiery pain in his stomach and he nearly blacks out when he lands on his back. But he ignores the pain and jumps up, shooting two more webs at it and flinging himself at it.

He realizes his mistake when it crunches and makes a low humming noise. Then it explodes, sending him flying into the same warehouse. He slides across the floor, abruptly falling into a large crater in the ground. He cries out when he falls nearly fifteen feet.

He hears someone groaning by him and turns his head weakly. He sees the broken iron man armor covering Mr. Stark shift and the man suddenly sits up. The broken pieces of armor fall away from him and his eyes widen when he sees Peter.

"Kid? What the hell are you doing here?" He asks. "You went by my school." He says as a weak explanation. Mr. Stark chuckles and brushes the metal off of him almost sadly.

He looks up at the hole and winces. "Well my suit's toast. Got any of that webbing crap to get us outta here?" He asks, not looking away from the hole. "Oh... nah... I don't think i'd be able to use it anyway." He says slowly.

The man is confused at the pain in his-the kid's voice. He quickly looks to him to make sure he's okay but what he sees shocks him. Peter was clutching his stomach as red seeped throug his fingers.

"Peter!" He cries in horror, rushing to him. Peter looks deathly pale and when he opens his mouth to speak, blood drips from his mouth. He grimaces, coughing it up. He reaches one bloody hand up to tear his mask off and he falls backward.

Mr. Stark lunges forward and catches him, cradling his body in his lap. He puts a hand on the wound, the other supporting his head. "You're going to be okay kid. When my suit got destroyed it sent a distress signal to the team. The avengers are on their way." He says assuringly.

Peter frowns at how worried his mentor looks. But then he understands. There was a gaping wound in his stomach and he felt increasingly worse every second. He wasn't going to make it.

Nobody would be able to make it in time. He tries to speak but the only thing that comes out is a choked sob. Tears spring to his eyes and Mr. Stark looks more worried.

"No no, don't cry Pete. Everything will be okay. You're gonna be fine." His mentor says, something off about his voice. "I don't- I don't wanna go Mr. Stark." He whimpers. (I'm genuinely sorry about that)

He still wants to see May again. He wants to say goodbye at least. To his friends and family. Hi stomach hurts so bad and he suddenly has a vivid memory of his mother singing to him.

He tries to smile but it turns to a grimace as his tears mix with his blood. "They're-they're coming. You'll be okay." Mr. Stark stutters. But he knows he's wrong.

Peter reaches a trembling hand up to clutch his mentor's shirt. "Can you-can you sing to me?" He asks. Mr. Stark frowns, not noticing the tears in his eyes. "Wh-no! You're not going to die!" He exclaims.

A sob escapes Peter. "P-please. I want- I want..." He trails off, coughing up blood. He clears his throat, finding it hard to breath properly with the lump in his throat.

"You are my sunshine,"

Peter smiles sadly, holding his mentor tightly. "I don't wanna go." He whispers, but he knows he will.

"My only sunshine,"

A sob rips from Mr. Stark's throat and he holds his kid as tightly as he can. They're both shaking with sobs now.

"You make me happy,"

A whimper escapes Peter and he only cries harder, the pain in his stomach too much to bear.

"When skies are grey,"

Peter sucks in a shuddering breath. It's getting harder to keep his eyes open. He wants to sleep but he needs to stay awake. Maybe he can make it long enough for help to come.

"You'll never know dear,"

His eyes flutter closed for a moment but he snaps them back open when his mentor's grip tightens.

"How much I love you,"

Peter is so so tired. And he's cold now. He doesn't know much but he knows that's bad. His grip is loosening on his mentor's shirt. His father. That's how he saw the man. "I love you." He chokes out.

Then his eyes fall shut and his hand falls from Mr. Stark's shirt. And then he's not so cold anymore. Tony lets out the most heart wrenching sob he ever had before. He had to finish the song.

"Please don't take m-my sunshine a-away."

He drops his head onto the kids chest and cries. He cries for his kid. He cries for himself. He cries because the world is cruel. "I love you too kid."
