Peter had grown really close to the Avengers ever since May got her new job. She had to go away for weeks at a time for conferences. Every time May went away he stayed at the tower with the others and they didn't mind. At least he Thought so anyway.

They treated him like one of them, not some little kid. After Homecoming Tony had given him an actual job as his intern so the people at the front desk would stop trying to get him locked out for not having a badge.

What the Avengers didn't know was that he had extremely low self confidence. He little white lines on his wrists proved that. He had depression ever since his parents died and had cut his wrists quite a few times. When he became Spider-Man he stopped because if he accidentally killed himself he couldn't save people any more. And if Tony found out he'd be dead meat.

Also the Avengers made him feel great about himself, so he had no reason to anymore. That voice in his head that whispered the dark thoughts didn't affect him much anymore.

Tony wouldn't even respond to Mr. Stark anymore after Peter once called him Tony, so he was forced to continue calling him that. He would never admit it out loud but he loved the Avengers like family.

After a crappy day at school with Flash bugging him nonstop, he is happy to get back to the tower. "Hi Peter, where would you like to go?" Friday greets him. "He penthouse please Fri." He responds, giddy to see his da-mentor.

The doors open and he steps out to see all of the Avengers talking to another guy around his age. "Oh Peter! Come meet the new intern!" Tony says with a smile. Peter shrugs, an odd sensation in his gut.

"Hi Peter! I'm your replacement, Greg." He greets, sticking his hand out. Peter frowns and shakes his hand. "What do you mean replacement?" He asks, confused. Had he done something wrong?

"Sorry I forgot to tell you, since you're you-know-who, we figured it'd be best if someone else took over as intern." Steve explains. Peter nods, hiding his frown. "Sure, right,of course. Can I still join you in the lab Mr. Stark?" He asks.

Greg interrupts as Tony opens his mouth. "Actually I was thinking that you could have your own lab to work in so you don't disrupt me and Tony." He suggests kindly. Peter's eyes flicker with sadness. "Oh. Alright. I'll be in my room I guess." He mutters. "Actually bud do you think you could stay back at your apartment today? Were working on something important and don't want a chance of being disrupted." He says.

Peter feels tears sting his eyes but blinks them away. "Yeah," He lies, knowing for a fact that May would be gone for a few more weeks. "Totally. I guess I'll just go now." He points to the elevator and turns back around. He leaves the building and looks around for Happy but realizes that Tony hadn't called for him.

He sighs sadly and walks home. Halfway there it begins raining but he doesn't speed up. He walks a little slower, glad for the rain. This way nobody would suspect he was crying.

The next few days go by the same. He goes to school, deals with a little bullying, looks for Happy, doesn't see him, and walks home. He'd been replaced and it hurt. It hurt really bad.

It's because you're a burden.

Peter frowns, staring up at the ceiling in his room. "No I'm not." He argues.

Why else would they replace you? He's better than you in every way.

"B-but..." he mutters weakly, tears already streaming down his face.

You never deserved to stay there. They were waiting for the right time to kick you out. They don't care about you.

"I know." He agrees sadly.

They don't care that you don't come around anymore. They're glad you're gone. They wouldn't care if you died.

He lets out a sob. The voice was right. He was worthless. He should just go ahead and do it already. He sniffs.

Return the suit first, you don't deserve it and you shouldn't make Tony come all this way to take it back once you're dead.

He nods, despite knowing the voice is inside his own head. He throws his hoodie on and grabs the suit from his bag. He writes a note and puts it with the suit. -I'm sorry for being such a burden, you'll never have to see me again-He folds it up and begins walking to the tower.

He steps into the elevator, clutching the suit to his chest. "Hello Peter, I detect a high heart rate would you like me to call Boss?" Friday asks. "Penthouse Friday." He mutters. The doors open.

He walks in to see all of the avengers on the couch laughing with Greg. He takes a shaky breath and sets the suit and note on the counter, then leaves.

He gets back in the elevator and goes down. "Goodbye Friday, you're pretty nice." He says. "Peter you seem distressed, shall I call Boss?" She asks but Oeter is already out of the building. "Calling boss." She says.

The avenger's laughing gets interrupted by Friday. "Peter Parker is in distress Boss. He left his suit in the kitchen." She says. Tony frowns. Why would Peter leave his suit? He loved that thing.

He walks out to the kitchen and sees the suit and a piece of paper on the counter. He picks it up and reads it. His eyes bulge. He runs into the living room and shows the others the note. All of the Avengers run from the building toward Peter, leaving Greg in the dust.

Peter pulls the stool under the rope.

The avengers run as fast as they can.

Peter steps onto the stool.

They see the apartment building.

He grabs the rope, taking a deep breath.

They burst inside tackling him to the ground before he can put the noose around his neck.

He breaks down sobbing, clutching Tony. "Please! Just let me die! I want to die!" He cries, shattering all of their hearts. "No Peter, god no. I'm so sorry. Nobody can replace you. I'm so sorry we didn't see what we were doing. Don't ever leave us. Don't ever leave me son." Tony cries, ho,ding the boy as close as he can.

"You really mean it?" He asks in disbelief, looking up into Tony's eyes. "God yes Peter. Come on, let's go home." He says, standing up but Peter refuses to let go. He lifts him into his arms and feels immense guilt. How could he have done this to Peter?

He pulls out his phone and calls Happy. "Yeah Boss." He responds. " I want Gregory Taylor removed from the building immediately." He demands and hangs up. He notices the small smile on Peter's face and knows he did the right thing. He'd never ever hurt his son like that again.
