He paced near the Dawnstar Sanctuary door, his jester hat being squeezed in his hands as he worried. Normally, his Listener would be back the day they set off, but you'd been gone for some 3 days, and Cicero didn't know how to feel about that.

Had you finally abandoned him? Did you die? Were you fighting those dragons that you said you had to fight? Were you happy out there, all alone? Or were you slowly freezing to death?

Normally, the last question would give him a sleek sense of satisfaction, but he just felt sick thinking about it. You...  You had helped him many, many times, and he didn't take such things lightly. You both were in a guild of assassins, but somehow you managed to be kind, and that baffled him.

Babette approached him with a sigh, shaking her head while she leaned her small frame against a wall. "You know, Cicero, ____'ll be back eventually. It's not like she's one to just die."

The Keeper shook his head, frowning. "The Listener should be back now," he muttered.

She sighed. "Whatever, just don't forget to eat something."

"Cicero won't," he murmured, before going back to his pacing, back and forth, back and forth.

He must've done it for hours, though to him it felt like nothin. A sudden noise disrupted his quick, padded feet- a loud lurch of the entrance door, and a frame collapsing on the entryway seconds later.

The redhead's eyes widened significantly, and he rushed forward, blood already pooling on the ground from the no doubt major injury you'd gotten.

"____!" he'd exclaimed at the huge, gaping claw mark on your abdomen rapidly leaking blood. The two other assassins in the sanctuary heard the loud voice and came running, Nazir being shoved aside by Babette.

She ripped out a large piece of her dress, then handed it to Cicero. "Keep pressure on it. Nazir, get potions!"

The Redguard went off before she even addressed him, and Cicero was desperately trying to stop the blood flow, but being it was such a large wound, he was majorly unsuccessful. Grimacing, Babette held out a hand, healing magic flowing out seconds after.

The bleeding lessened in result, but her magic was not near strong enough to fully heal you. Nazir came running in, and Babette quickly grabbed a large healing potion ball from him and poured it onto the cloth, using it until it was empty and promptly chucking it behind her, smashing the fragile glass.

Finally, the gash began to heal, and by that time you were completely unconscious and starting to shiver. Carefully, Cicero had carried you to your room, laying you on the bed so Babette could stitch up the wound.

It stretched across your whole front abdomen, even licking around your waist in a few parts. A mighty scar, it'd be.

With expert precision, the child vampire beside him closed the wounds, Nazir providing a few more bottles of healing potions in an effort to help. Cicero had bitten his lip near raw, anxiousness creeping in with a predatory sense of possessiveness behind it.

"Cicero," Babette murmured, tying off the last stitch and beginning to collect her supplies, "take care of her."

He nodded, "Cicero will do his best."

And after the two other members cleared out, he was left alone, drawing up the blankets from underneath you in an attempt to keep you warm even though you still shivered.

He took a seat on the end of the bed, staring at the ground.

''''''

A quiet curse echoed in the room, and then a shuffling of blankets, before the sleeping jester was abruptly kicked straight in the thigh, a rather confused woman meeting his startled gaze seconds later.

Cicero's eyes widened, and a wide grin grew on his face. "____! You're- the Listener is-"

"I'm fine, my friend," you assure gently, a soft smile on your face as pain thrummed along your stomach. He threw himself beside you, careful to avoid hitting your abdomen, but not hesitating in giving a tight hug moments after.

You laugh, and with an adoring smile, you place a small kiss on his forehead.

"The Listener is okay! Oh, by Sithis!" he cheered.

"Shush," you hum with a smile, "lay beside me. I'm cold."

He bid your playful order without a second of hesitation, tucking your head beneath his and draping an arm around you.

"____ really is cold," he muttered, frowning.

You chuckle, "I can attest to it."

There was a quiet hum from him in response after a quiet silence. "The Listener should rest," he urged.

With a yawn that made your stomach move and pain shoot around your stitches, you huff, but nonetheless close your eyes.

A small smile grew on his face, and he let slumber take him as well.
