Chapter 54: Vampire Ambush

-Somewhere near Grayhaven-

"Geez, this forest gives me the creeps." Zemmi shivered as she looked around the ominous forest.

"Well, it's been said that this forest was known for being a good place for vampires to kidnap people," Lura told Zemmi.

"Do we really have to go through this forest? It's really creepy."

Lura noticed that Zemmi was cautiously looking around and smiled.

"What's this? The great invincible Dragon herself is scared of some creepy-looking forest?" Lura chuckled.

"Stop laughing! I-I'm just not good with stuff like this, okay?!"

"Sure, whatever you say," Lura kept grinning as they walked through the forest.

It's been a couple days since Lura and Zemmi departed from the city. Their current destination is Grayhaven to see if the Champion of Zerris was there.

It was very unlikely, but since King Allen's forces were heading there too, they decided to depart so they could meet them. Ever since they entered the forest, they've been on their guard.

It's because Grayhaven was known for having frequent vampire activities. Vampires are known for being B to A ranking monsters.

Then there were the Noble Vampires, which were in the S to SS Rank. Some of them were even in the triple S ranking, but luckily, that's only a small amount.

That still didn't ease their stress. In the past, Vampires ruled the world and enslaved all of the races.

If it wasn't for the hunters, the vampires might've still been in charge. Zemmi was there when it happened, and was also part of the Hunters.

She knew the Founder of the Vampire Hunters and actually helped train him. It was so long ago, though, that she can't remember it all that well.

Zemmi has lived a long life, which is one of the reasons why she's called The Invincible Dragon. Her background was very mysterious with full of holes that were never explained.

That's why Zemmi accepted her king's request to deal with the Champion of Zerris. She's lived a long life and faced many battles, so she's more than qualified for the job.

Plus, this would be a good chance to test how strong the Champion was.

"Hey, Lura, what do you think the Champion of Darkness is like?" Zemmi asked.

"From what I've read from the reports, he's very powerful and dangerous."

"I know that, obviously. But, I'm curious about his nature."

"What do you mean?" Lura flashed a confused look at Zemmi.

"Well, I just want to know if he's really bad, you know?"

"Whether he's good or bad doesn't change how dangerous he is. Plus, due to his arrival, he has caused a lot of mischiefs. He can't be ignored any longer."

"Geez, you're such a stickler!" Zemmi pouted.

It's true that Lura was known for being a rule follower and loyal soldier, but that's only because she knows what she does in her life is the right thing. She was raised to follow the right path, and the path she has taken was what she thought was right.

The Champion of Darkness is a powerful and dangerous being that's close to Zerris in terms of power. Out of all the gods, Zerris and Yris were the strongest.

Knowing this, Lura couldn't think about whether or not the Champion of Darkness was good or not, because that was impossible. Like Zerris, the Champion is known for being evil and chaotic.
