Chapter 112: Interference

Alright, I won't have enough time to use magic with this bastard burning up both the mana and air around me, so I need to make this quick.

As I approached the Divine Beast of Fire, I prepared a couple of spells in advance. I wanted to keep as much mana as I could, so I was careful with what spells I used.

Since this bastard's using mana around us to fuel his flames, I'm not sure how long this will last. There should be a limit to how much mana it can use, so I should just stall for time for now.

As I prepared my spells, the Fire Beast spoke.

[So, Champion of Darkness, why is it that you're here?]

"Because you guys are in my way. I'm here to deal with some Orcs, and you people won't leave me alone."

[Orcs? Those pathetic weaklings? Why is it that the goddess of darkness's Champion struggles with such creatures?]

"They're annoying me, and I'm going to teach them a lesson."

[Hmm. I can see in your eyes that you mean the truth. The last time I've seen eyes as black and dark as yours was Zerris herself.]

"Is there a reason why you're talking so much? I don't have a lot of time to deal with you." I got annoyed and decided to cut the conversation short.

[Apologies, I guess we should get started, then, shall we?] The fire beast then started to charge a fire attack.

My barrier should hold, but just in case, I also applied a few defensive spells around my body for good measure. I already know Terra's flame breath power, so I didn't want to experience another from the Fire Beast.

I'm assuming since this thing's affinity is fire, it would be like ten times stronger than Terra's. So yeah, definitely making sure that doesn't happen again.

But, I'm not stupid enough to let that beast attack me. I'll be the one doing the attacking!

Since I prepared a couple of spells in advance, it was time to use them.

I then activated my first spell.

"[Increase Gravity: X100!]"

Suddenly, the fire beast sank to the floor as if it couldn't hold its own weight.

[W-what is this?!] The fire beast struggled to break free, but it was pointless.

Although this guy's huge, I'm pretty certain that it can't handle a hundred times its own weight. Though, the spell won't last long since I need to conserve my mana.

Now that I think about it, shouldn't I be tired by now? I've been using up a lot of mana, so I should at least be breathing heavy or something.

Now that I think about it, I've been using magic like crazy before, and I never got tired. I always thought it was strange but never really paid much attention.

Oh, yeah, I remember Amy told me something about me having a Mana recovery ability, so that might be it. However, it wasn't shown in the skill menu.

Could it be Zerris's blessing? I really need to do more research on that damn skill.

From what I remember, Mana Recovery is when I take in the mana particles around me to replenish my own. Everyone can do this, but the difference is my recovery rate is faster.

Still, even with my Mana recovery ability, it shouldn't work since the Fire Beast is burning up the mana around us.

As I continued to ponder this, The Divine Beast of Fire grunted in frustration.
