Chapter 67: Unexpected Events

-Vlad's POV-

Shit!

Why is this happening to us?! What the hell did we even do?

Right now, I was currently facing off against a group of adventurers. I could tell that they were pretty strong, especially that knight and magician girl.

They were the ones that were doing most of the attacking. The knight girl was swinging her sword at me with precise and deadly hits.

I was able to block a few of them, but she did manage to get a few hits on me. Not only that, but that magician girl with her was firing magic at me while I was distracted with the knight girl.

Luckily, Amy was with me, so she blocked the attacks with a barrier.

I just have one question though.

"How come you aren't helping?!" I shouted at Amy, who was a little distance away from me.

"I am helping," She told me in a nonchalant tone.

"Then how come you're not turning these people into dust right now?"

Considering how strong Amy is, she could easily turn these guys into ashes by now. The question is why isn't she?!

"You need the practice."

"That's your reason?! We just got ambushed, and you're using this as a training regimen?"

"Exactly," Amy gave me a blank expression, unfazed by what's going on.

I can't believe you! I could die, dammit!

While I was staring daggers at Amy, some blond guy showed up and thrust a spear at me. I blocked his attack and kicked him away.

This is getting us nowhere. Even with my current stats, taking on these many enemies at once isn't going to be easy.

A couple of arrows zoomed towards me, and Amy's barrier protected me. Unfortunately, the knight girl and blonde with the spear rushed at me while I was distracted by the arrows.

The knight girl scratched my arm, and the spear guy pierced my leg. Thanks to my healing ability, the wound wouldn't cause too much trouble, but it hurt nonetheless.

I needed to get some distance between us, so I used Dark Magic and used [Shadow Pulse]. This spell made a shadow-like shockwave that pushed my enemies back.

The knight girl and spear guy were still on their feet when they were hit, but I was able to keep my distance from them. That didn't last long because they both rushed at me to get as close as possible.

They know that once I get far enough away, I'll use something to take them out from a safe distance. They're trying not to let that happen.

This is what I get for fighting skilled fighters. It's a good experience, but a real pain in the ass when it happens out of nowhere.

"Surrender, Vampire Prince!" The Knight girl shouted at me.

She knows about my race? That's not good.

"And if I say no?" I countered.

"Then you'll die!" She then slashed at me.

When I blocked her attack, the spear guy came in to pierce through my chest. I reacted just in time as I transformed into a crow and flew away from them.

Once I was back in my base form, I used [Shadow Chains] and restrained them and the others. I wouldn't hold them for long, so I called out to Amy.

"Amy, finish them off!"

"Alright." Amy then started to activate her magic and was about to use it until a girl with green hair shouted something.

"I won't let you!" She managed to raise her hand, and it started to glow.

Next thing we knew, Amy stopped her spell. Not only was I surprised, but so was Amy.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I-I can't activate my spell..."

"What?! Why?!"

"I-I don't know."

Amy was completely shocked by what just happened. I was too distracted by the sudden events that I didn't notice the arrows coming at me.

I couldn't move fast enough, so I got hit by the arrows. Without Amy's barrier, any ranged attack was going to hit me now.

What the hell just happened?! What did that girl do?!

I began to pull out the arrows while summoning some creatures of the night to protect me. While they were dealing with them, I rushed over to Amy.

"What was that?" I hastily asked.

"I-I'm not sure..." Amy was still in shock.

"Hey!" I grabbed her shoulders and shook her to get her back to reality. "I'm gonna need a little bit more information than just 'I'm not sure'."

She looked up at me and was able to speak more clearly.

"That girl . . . She must have a special skill that cancels even my magic."

"Is that even possible?"

"Yes, but that's only if either Mother or her sister granted that special skill."

Okay, we can cross out Zerris on that. That means it's the goddess of light that gifted the girl.

This was actually pretty bad. With the girl's skill, she might be able to cast it multiple times.

"Is there a time limit?" I asked.

"I don't-"

"Then figure it out!" I interrupted.

I then looked back at the fight to see what was going on. It seems like my creatures of the night was holding their own, but they won't last long, especially during the day.

If it were night time, I'd have a bigger advantage, but it's the middle of the afternoon. It won't get dark anytime soon.

I turned back to Amy, waiting for her answer.

"Is there a time limit?!" I raised my voice in agitation.

"T-there might be one."

"Good enough for me. How long?"

"A couple minutes, maybe?"

Maybe?! For the love of-Dammit, whatever!

I turned back to check up on my summoned creatures. They were slowly getting killed.

I'm running out of time.

"Fine! I'll hold them off for as long as I can. Once you get your magic back, you need to finish them off quickly."

"...Alright," She hesitated but gave me a determined replied.

Alright, looks like I have to defend both myself and Amy. I then turned around just in time to see the last of my summoned creature get killed.

I won't be able to use that skill for a couple of hours now, especially since I summoned a lot of creatures at once.

This is definitely not going to end well for me.

Now before you guys start talking about how Chloe was able to use her special skill to on Amy, let me remind you that a god granted this skill to her. 

That's about the only exception to cancel Amy's magic unless you were obviously a god yourself. That's why Amy was so surprised, especially when she's a lot stronger than about the majority of the people.
