Geez, this town was already creepy as it is, but now I can't help but look over my shoulder every two seconds.

It's like this whole town was staring at us. In fact, they actually were.

Almost everyone in this entire town was staring at us from their homes. While we were outside, the rest were still indoors, which makes it a lot creepier.

This was getting out of hand. Let's just get what we need and get out of here.

Amy and I quickly looked around for a food market and soon found one. We parked in front of the food market went inside.

The market was just as barren as the town outside. But, with this, we'll be able to get what we need and get out without any lines.

After grabbing whatever we could, Amy and I proceeded into buying the food. However . . .

"Just a moment . . . I need to get something from the back." The store clerk said this and went into the back of the shop.

That's when we waited for the guy for at least ten minutes.

"What's taking that old man so long?" I was losing my patience and was about to go off.

That's when the store clerk finally showed up.

"Apologies . . . It took longer than expected."

"What did you even go back there to get?" I was curious about what was so important in the back of the shop that it took ten whole minutes to get.

". . . It's none of your concern."

. . . What kind of logic is that? You wasted my time looking for something, and you're not even going to tell me what it is?

I know it's none of my business, but I at least deserve to know what it is since I waited for ten freaking minutes.

Hah, forget it. I waste any more time in this place and I'll lose my mind.

Ignoring the store clerk, we turned around with our food and walked back outside. Unfortunately, what we saw in front of us only fueled my rage.

The carriage was damaged. All of its wheels were gone, and the entire body was dented up.

What the hell happened while we were inside?!

More importantly, who did this?!

I want to know which bastard thought it would be funny to destroy our carriage!

While I was seething with rage with a semi-straight face, a familiar face popped up.

"Whoa! What happened to your carriage?" It was the girl with the bluish pink hair.

"Apparently, someone decided to mess it up," I fumed.

"Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe I can help you guys fix it!"

"How are you going to do that?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I know a guy named Oliver that fixes carriages all the time. He could probably fix up your carriage."

Probably? That doesn't sound reassuring, you know?

"Whatever. If he can fix our carriage, then take us there." I gave up and told her to take us to her guy.

"Alrighty, then! Follow me!" She motioned us to follow her as she walked off.

While we were following her, I asked her a question.

"What's your name?"

"Hmm? My name's Belladonna Monroe. But everyone here calls me Bell. What's your name?"

"D-Hollow Crypt." I almost said my real name, but I managed to play it off.

Hopefully, it worked.

"What about the girl?" She eyed Amy.

"She's Annabelle Crane."

"I see. Nice to meet you two," She smiled at us.

". . . Likewise."

[Master, why did you give her a fake name?] Amy spoke to me through telepathy.

[Because I don't trust her. So far, everything she's done has been an act.]

[How can you be so sure?]

[Because I've seen enough of that back home.]

In my old world, when I asked for help from people, some of them ignored me while others actually answered my call. Unfortunately, they only listened to me because they wanted something in exchange.

This resulted in beatings and all kinds of other physical abuse. The problem is that I didn't notice it because they always showed a smile to me when they helped me out.

After a while, I could tell what they really looked like under that damn mask of theirs. This Belladonna girl was no different.

In fact, her acting skills were far better than what I usually see, so it was hard to tell, but I was able to see through her mask.

She's likely the one that sabotaged our carriage. My only question is why?

There's definitely a reason behind it, but until then, I need to play along. Once I get enough information, I'll take action.

Whatever games this little girl was playing, I'll play along until I get what I need.

After a while, we finally arrived at the place where Bell's friend was. She introduced us to him and explained the problem.

His name was Oliver Simmons, and he agreed to fix up our carriage. Unfortunately, he said that he doesn't have the current supplies he needs to repair it.

He told us that there was a shipment coming in with the supplies needed for the repairs, but it's supposed to arrive in two to three days.

That means that we'll have to stay here for that amount of time until we can leave. This is becoming a massive pain.

After our business with Oliver was done, Bell guided us to an Inn to sleep in. We paid for our rooms, and Bell took the rest of the day with us to show us around the town.

I wasn't really interested since I wasn't in a good mood, so I blocked out most of what she said. Instead, I took a look at my [Detection] skill to check out the population.

There was a total of thirty-seven people, aside from Amy and me. The funny thing about it was that the majority of the people here was underground.

Yeah, there were at least ten to thirteen people above ground, while the rest was under it. It was a little strange, but I'll think about that later.

After Bell showed us around, it was getting dark, so we decided to call it a day. We went back to the Inn to get some rest.

"Call me any time if you want to hang out, okay?" Bell closed in on me while wrapping her body around my arm.

Since she was still a little kid, she didn't have much in the chest area, but I did feel something soft press against my arm.

For some reason, though, I felt this really deadly aura coming from somewhere. It was very unpleasant, to say the least.

". . . I'll keep that in mind." I pulled myself off her and went inside the Inn along with Amy.

That was exhausting.

Heaving a sigh of relief, my body slowly relaxed as it collapsed on the bed. I was asleep soon after.
