Kate walked into the gym the following dusk, carrying a sleeping burrito wrapped Alec with her, assuming that Dimitri would already be there as she doesn't know if he's returned or not.
However, she is surprised to see the practice room dark and quiet, so after covering Alec's face, she flipped on the light and walked inside the room, only to find it completely empty. She knew better than to be disappointed, she knew that Dimitri might be taking his time waking up, especially since she wasn't there, she even knew that he might not show up at all.
But she knew that Dimitri, and Kirova, would make arrangements for someone to train her.
"He's not here."
A voice sounded from behind Kate, not loudly as any other student would speak. And as Kate turned around, she saw Janine Hathaway approach her, wearing a stretchy spandex shirt with short sleeves, loose drawstring workout pants, similar to the ones that Kate was wearing.
"I figured, God only knows when he got back with Lady Ozera, the Princess, his sister and Guardian Owens." Kate replied politely, so unlike the hostility that Janine was used to being talked to by her own daughter.
"Do you know who I am?" Janine questioned, both curiously and accusingly.
Kate nodded, "You're one of the best Dhampirs currently in the world, alongside my aunt, Dimka, the now late Arthur Schoenberg." she replied.
At the mention of the recent loss for the Dhampirs, Janine's eyes moved to the sleeping, burrito wrapped toddler. It wasn't rare that Dhampir children became orphaned, unfortunately it happened more often than not. When Janine returned her eyes to Kate, she found Kate analyzing her, just like Dhampirs were taught to do.
In the day that she'd been here, she'd asked around about Kate, wanting to know everything that she could about the girl who had befriended her daughter's best friend. She'd read the teacher and Guardian reports on how Kate surpassed every test and plan that had been applied to her, with notes attached, written by many people.
Novice Alistair has shown that she is more than capable of keeping up with the senior class.
Novice Alistair has excelled in every exam with little study time.
Novice Alistair has proven that her mind is in constant vigilance mode, something that takes our students years to develop.
Novice Alistair has shown remarkable resilience when it comes to facing Strigoi.
And a lot of other observations made by all of the Teachers at the Academy, by Guardians and most impressively, attached to her personal file was a formal commendation from Queen Tatiana Ivashkov, which was highly uncommon, rare even.
