I pull up the mountain trail until I find the camp, Jacqui led me to. I park and hop out only to feel a gun pressed to my head. I keep my hands to my sides. "Shane, no! He's with me!" Jacqui calls and I feel the barrel disappear.
I slowly turn around and look at the man who was just pressing a gun to my head. In normal circumstances, I'd have punched his lights out, but I'm just too tired to knock his teeth in. "Leave him alone, Shane, he's had it rough last few hours."
Shane nods his head and walks away, returning to a woman's side, as she clutches a child to her. He looks to be about 9 or 10. I run my hands through my hair, not knowing what to do. I turn to Jacqui, needing something to keep my mind busy. "Do any of y'all know how to hunt?"
She shakes her head and I sigh, something to do. "Okay, I'll...I'll go hunt something," I say pulling my crossbow from the truck. "Daryl, you should really rest. I don't want you passing out while you're out there."
"I'll be fine, I just, need to keep occupied. I'll be back in a little while." I say before walking away.

I press myself closer to the wall as I hear the walkers outside. I whimper into my knees feeling so scared. I couldn't make it back to Daryl's truck, I got cut off by walkers. I was able to hide inside this store and lock the door.
I check my holster and make sure my gun's still there. I relax when it is, I can't use it unless I absolutely have too. I listen as I hear the walkers beginning to get quieter as they move farther away. I hear the door shatter, and I bite my tongue to keep from whimpering, I taste blood as it fills my mouth.
"Okay, only grab what you can then we'll go searching for her, got it." I hear a male voice and rummaging. "Yes sir, Glenn." I hear a female voice and another. "Hey, Merle get off your high horse and help us look for supplies."
I hear a grunt of annoyance. I jump to my feet and race into the open. I see Merle, and others I don't recognize. They whip around, pulling out guns, aimed at my head. I raise my hands fearfully. "Hold on y'all, I suggest you don't do that unless you want Daryl to kill you."
"Merle," I say in a breathless whisper. The other people slowly lower their guns, staring at me. I watch as a blonde steps forward looking at me softly. "Are you, Kristina?"
"Yeah, but my family used to call me Kris."
"Daryl will be so thrilled when he sees you, sweetheart. Come with us." I step forward and I think she saw the tears in my eyes because she wraps her arm around me, pulling me close to her. After the others scavenge they take me outside to their big truck, the blonde drives, having me sit in the front with her.
"So you and Daryl are companions?" I nod my head slowly. "Are you scared?" I nod again, keeping silent. "You're very quiet, I guess it's because you don't know us yet, but you will. I'm Andrea by the way." After that, she leaves me in peace. I stay silent all the way up till Andrea says we've made it back to camp.
I jump out and a black woman comes jogging up. "Daryl hunted a deer and brought it back for us, no one's going hungry tonight, the children will finally get a full stomach."
"Jacqui, this is, Kris, Daryl's friend." She looks at me and smiles. "I'm happy you made it here safely."
"Jacqui, where's Daryl?"
"He's up near the quarry, sitting against a tree, staring down into the water. He hasn't eaten. I think he'll be real happy to see you." I take off at a run, heading for the spot she pointed to. "Daryl!" I shout as I run I see him appear at the top of the hill. He sees me and immediately starts running down, nearly tripping in his haste.
