I sit down in one of the pews, putting my head in my hands. Carol's been taken by the same people that have Beth. Rick, Daryl, Noah, Tyreese, and Sasha are planning on going to Atlanta to get them back.

With Maggie and the others off to DC we're spread pretty thin. And now my husband wants to go off on another mission that has a high risk of getting him killed. I love Beth, I really do, but I don't want to risk losing Daryl after I just got him back.

Rick and some of the other men are hammering boards onto the shutters, They've also taken apart the pipe organ to act as spikes putting them around the front porch. I fiddle with the ring on my finger, wishing Maggie and Carol were here for me to talk to.

"You going to take the cross too?" Gabriel asks them and Daryl looks at him. "If we need it."

I run my hand through my hair. "Hey, we're heading out." I don't look up, instead, I focus on my shoes. "Kris, you know I gotta go."

"Yeah, I know you do, I'm just tired of getting left wondering if I'll be all alone again." As soon as the words left my mouth I felt guilty. I look up at him, sniffling before standing up. "I'm sorry, that wasn't fair."

"It's okay."

"No, it isn't. It's never anyone's fault that we always get separated. Shit happens." Daryl pulls me to him and I wrap my arms around him. "There is nothing I want more than to stay back. Stay with you and Kara. But I owe it to Carol and to Beth. I can help so that's what I gotta do."

"I know, I just wish I could go with you. I'm so scared, Daryl."

"I know. Truth is I'm scared too, but we all got a job to do." I nod before pulling away, breathing deeply. He smiles sadly down at me before kissing me deeply. He pulls away, stroking my cheek before heading over to where Rick and Carl are saying goodbye.

"We'll be back soon." They leave and close the doors. Michonne and Carl start hammering boards up against the door. Judith starts crying so I pull her into my arms, bouncing her gently. "Getting your practice in?" I look at Kara and smile.

"So what if I am?" She smiles back. Her eyes seem dull and tired. "You okay?" She nods her head and I give her a look. "Kara--"

"I'm fine, alright?" I stare at her and she sighs, messing with her hair. "Sorry. I'm just tired is all. Didn't sleep well last night."

"Did you actually sleep?" She looks up at me and gives a small shake of her head before going over to Carl and Michonne. Once they're done with the wood, Carl starts laying out weapons.

"Pick one." Gabriel looks up at him. "You're going to need to learn how to defend yourself."

Gabriel stops what he's doing. "Defend myself? They said they'd leave."

"They were liars and murders."

"And cannibals," Kara says and I nod, looking down at Judith. "Just like us. Minus the cannibal of course."

"We protected ourselves. They wanted us dead. You're lucky your church has lasted this long. You can't stay in one place anymore. Not for too long. And once you're out there, you're gonna find trouble you can't hide from. You need to know how to fight."

We all look up at Carl. Gabriel limply picks up a machete. "Good choice. But you're not holding it right. You've got to be able to drive it down 'cause sometimes their skulls aren't as soft and you need to be able--"

"I'm sorry," He swallows like he's going to throw up, I look at him sadly. "No. I need to lie down." I watch him stand up and go into his office.
