I'm helping Carol cook breakfast for everyone. With us, people from Woodbury, and new people Rick's bringing in we have a lot of people to feed. I hear laughter, I turn and see Kara and Carl lounging in the sunshine. Carol and I share a look and a smile.

I look up and see Daryl approaching. The others notice him too and call out. "Morning, Daryl."

"Morning, Daryl."

"Morning, Daryl." I give him an amused smile. "Smells good," he says as Carol makes a plate for him. "Just so you know, I liked you first." I laugh and Daryl shakes his head. "Stop."

"Dad!" Kara comes running over and nearly tackles him in a hug. I grin and set another plate down. Kara, Daryl, and I have actually become a little family. When Kara first called me mom, I was very surprised. She asked if it was okay and if I would be her mom and of course I said yes.

After the world ended I didn't ever think I'd have the opportunity to be a mom so me and Daryl became her parents. Daryl was a little resistant but he eventually grew a fondness toward the young teen. "Whoa, don't knock me down, maybe, Kris can feed you a little less your growing too much. You'll probably be taller than me in a year."

I chuckle as Kara laughs and steps back. "Carl and I were going to the library later in case you need me."

"Okay, have fun, sweetheart," I say and she smiles and waves. "Bye, Mom." She turns and jogs back to Carl. "They're so adorable." Carol nods and I set the utensils down. "I got fence duty so I gotta go, okay," I tell Carol before turning to Daryl. "You, be safe on the run okay. Love you." I lean up and kiss his cheek, giving him a small hug.

"I will see you when I get back." I nod before heading down to the fence. I grab a sharpened cane and an apron before joining Karen and Tyreese. I begin stabbing walkers, we're getting a lot of them, they don't spread out anymore, they just bunch up.

After a few minutes I see Michonne riding back on her horse. She's been going out on her own a lot. I see Rick and Carl jogging down and I run for the gate, beginning to pull it open, Rick joins and helps me. "Morning, Michonne," I say when she dismounts she greets me before digging into her bag. "We're glad to see you," Rick says and Michonne smiles. "Glad to see you, too. Somebody hit the jackpot." She pulls out comic books, handing them to Carl.

"No way. Awesome! Thank you." Carl smiles excitedly. "I get to read 'em when you're done. Also share them with, Kara."

"Yeah, I know she likes comics. We talk about them all the time." I smile and watch as he runs back up to the prison where Kara is waiting. I see her get a happy look when she sees the comics in Carl's hand. They walk away, side by side heads close together.

"I see a Lewis-Grimes union in the future," Michonne says amusingly and Rick shakes his head. "They're just friends." Me and Michonne share a look before laughing at how clueless he is. "I also found this," Michonne says pulling a shaver from her bag.

Rick takes it and looks down at it. "Your face is losing the war." Rick smiles and I laugh before returning to my position.

I jog down with Carl to where Mica and Lizzie are with the other kids. When I'm close I can hear what they're saying. "Nick, over here."

"Hi, Nick!"

"Hi, Nick." I make a disgusted face as I ask my question, "You're naming them?"

"Well, one of them has a name tag, so we thought all of them should," Lizzie says and the other kids nod. "They had names when they were alive. They're dead now," Carl says the same look on his face as mine. "No, they're not. They're just different."
