I'm walking past a door when I hear voices and I stop. I peek inside and hide again when I see it's Daryl and Morgan. Daryl's sitting in front of Shiva's cage. "Well, you're good with her. Ezekiel will be impressed."
"Well, figure any guy that has a pet tiger can't be that bad. He's okay by Carol." I freeze at the mention of her. "Yeah, I found her, out in that little house."
"Look, what I said when I said she just went away it's what she told me to do."
"No, I get it. We need the Kingdom. You got to make that happen."
"I'm sorry. I mean, I -- I really am, but, uh it can't be me." Daryl sighs and I hear him stand up. "Look, whatever it is you're holding on to it's already gone, man. Wake the hell up."
"You're the same as me, Daryl."
"You don't know shit about me."
"No, I do. Cause you didn't tell Carol what happened. You didn't, 'cause she'd be here otherwise. And I'm glad for that. See, we're all holding on to something." I hear Shiva grunt and after a moment, Daryl says, "I'm going back to Hilltop in the morning and getting ready."
I hear footsteps and press myself deeper into the shadows. Daryl walks out and turns in the direction of his room. At the last second, I decide to follow him. I'm done walking on eggshells around him, it's time for another talk. I leave the shadows and walk through the corridors.
Eventually, I make it to his room only to freeze when I get close to the door. After a few minutes I knock on the door and he opens it. Just by looking down at me, I can tell that he knows we're going to have a long talk. He sighs and opens the door wider before turning around and walking back into his room.
"Daryl, we need to talk about this. I'm done with this cold shoulder thing you're doing, again."
"Nothing to talk about."
"Like hell, there isn't. Ever since we escaped Negan's compound you haven't said a word to me. And I'd like to know why?"
"You wanna know why? Maybe cause you fucked Negan!"
"He would've killed you, I had no choice!"
"There's always a choice! You could've let me die!"
"You know I couldn't do that! You and my kids are the only reason I'm still able to go on living. Why are you making it sound like I wanted it?!"
"Maybe you did!" I scoff, and the tears that were welling up in my eyes fall. "Are you really so blind that you would think that? There is no one else in this world for me, it's only you. And it's always going to be only you. You have no idea how much I hated myself for being with him. I thought of you every single night. I wanted you. But if you can't see that then, you don't deserve me."
I turn and leave the room not giving him a second to speak. I run back to my room and slide to the floor as soon as I close the door, bringing my knees up and crying into my jeans. It just feels like we're always fighting and I don't know if I can keep doing it.
Kara sits up in her bed and glances at me. "Are you okay, Mom?"
"Uh, yeah, I'm okay. Go back to sleep." She nods reluctantly and lays back down. I stand up, wiping away tears and look into Shawn's crib before going to bed too.

I wake up to sunlight shining in my eyes. I squint against it and sit up. I get off the bed and look down at a sleeping Kara. I lean down and gently shake her awake. She groans and opens her eyes. "What?"
