I stared out the window, gently rubbing my small stomach.
I sighed softly, feeling my heart pound.
I hope all is well with my baby. My last pregnancy I was only worried because I had never been a mother before. But after going through three years of teaching a young one, I’m more worried about my baby’s health this time around.
And why wouldn’t I be worried? I’m HIV positive! My baby has a risk of being HIV positive itself!
I can only pray that the Lord will forgive my sins and bless my baby with a beautiful and healthy lifestyle.
Only for the better.
“We’re here, Mia.” Debbie smiled, turning up a small driveway.
I smiled, admiring the old-fashioned homes in Italy. “Is this the doctors office?” I curiously asked.
Debbie chuckled, “No. It’s the doctors home. He has all the equipment we’ll be needing.” She said, gently touching my arm as we walked up the driveway.
I frowned. He better be a good one..
Debbie knocked on the man’s door. “Dr. Phillips? It’s Nurse Rowe out here with my patient Mia Gordy! We’re here for that one o’clock appointment!” Debbie said loudly.
I bit my lip as I fumbled my hands together, starting to feel nervous.
The door swung open as a tall, tan man smiled widely. “Ah! Ms. Rowe! It’s good to see you again!” He chirped, bringing Debbie in for a hug.
“And you must be Mia Gordy.” Dr. Phillips smiled at me, holding onto my hands as he looked at me up and down.
“I remember buying your magazine covers!” He smirked.
I blushed, feeling embarrassed. “Hello.” I squeaked out.
Dr. Phillips smirked, “Don’t be afraid of me.” He chuckled. “Debbie and I will take good care of ya!” He winked at me, moving out of the way so Debbie and I could walk into his home.
I looked around the blocked-home. “You have a very lovely home, Doctor Phillips.” I shyly admired.
He smiled at me as we stopped in his living room. “Thank you! My wife picked everything out!” He smiled.
Debbie gasped, “I didn’t know you got married!” She smiled.
Doctor Phillips blushed, “Yeah..” He shyly said.
“I met her as I moved into this little home. She showed me around Italy and everything. Scarlet is at work at the moment, but she’ll be home soon with the kids.” He smiled.
“Oh, congratulations!” Debbie smiled widely.
Doctor Phillips smirked, “Thank you, Ms. Rowe. And um.. I-I’m sorry to hear about your divorce.” He softly said, touching her arm.
Debbie frowned, “It was for the best. I’ll be fine.” She forced a smile.
I smirked at Debbie. I admire how strong she is as a woman.
No wonder she’s a great nurse.
"Just lay down here, Mia." Doctor Phillips kindly pointed to the couch.
I slowly nodded as I awkwardly sat down, laying myself straight on the couch.
He smiled at me, "How many months are you now?" He curiously asked, getting his stethoscope.
