MIND BLOWN!!

This is a true incident which happened almost more than a year back and yet so fresh in my mind. I was working on a patient. A muslim gentleman. He was in his mid 60s.. 🙂

An old gentleman, poor guy, retired.. Not much to earn and eat. He had a son who was a worker somewhere. 😊

He had lost all teeth and I was making a denture for him.. As I interacted with the patient I discovered that he had diabetes. He was hardly eating anything but he was suffering from it at a very early age 😓.. He never had any vehicle except his bicycle which he had since he was working as a watchman of some building..🚲

As the day of payment was nearing.. I was almost thru with my work. I was nervous to ask for the money 😅. I was thinking twice should I ask from him or just give it myself without even telling him? 🤔The money was the fee of the denture making which used to go entirely to the institution I was working as an intern but still that little bit would also be so much for him.. 😓

One day I gathered courage to ask him for the cash. I asked him in a very mild and diplomatic way.. "Kaka (Uncle) actually now for the teeth set they will ask for fee receipt and without that I can't go a step further. Please tell me if you can pay or not. I will manage something else.." 👼🏻. He immediately turned to me and asked, "Are you gonna pay for me?" I said a yes. He looked down and said.. "How much do you earn per month? How much do you actually get?" I replied that I hardly get somewhere to 900-1000 Rupees which are my own as a part of internship. What he said later BLEW MY MIND!!! 😳 He said, "Beta (Dear child) you don't go on my attire. I may be poor but I am not helpless. You have been generous enough to ask me but I am not those kind of people who live on others favours. I may be old but I am not incapable to pay. I am willing to work to get the fee. You just tell me how much I need to pay. I want to reward you also for your hard work, honesty and generosity.." My jaw dropped 😑. Taken aback I said, "There are very few people like you kaka who are so down to earth and so positive at this age. Knowing you don't have much, you are still willing to give that little bit that you have rather than being in debt. I don't know how you are gonna manage it but I am sure that you must have done something good to someone that you will be respected for.. I don't need anything. I have whatever I ever wanted and I am happy.. Thank you.. ☺️"

After a few days when the day of payment came he actually got cash and paid it. After a day or two when I called him for the final time. He insisted I take something. Some cash for my work. I said, "Kaka if you want to give me something then give me blessing to be a better person. An amazing doctor. Have a healing hand. Be a good daughter, a good wife to my husband and a homemaker."  He said, "Humari dua hamesha tumhare sath hai. Allah tumhe humesha khushi aur kamiyabi de..(My blessings are always with you. May Allah bless you always with happiness and success..)." 😇

I said a thank you and smiled as we departed... Knowing that he taught me a very important lesson I will never forget..

"YOU ARE NEVER INCAPABLE OF DOING ANYTHING. IT JUST NEEDS EFFORTS AND INITIATION. NO MATTER THE AGE OR CIRCUMSTANCES, JUST KEEP GOING.." 😎👍🏻

Love,
❤️NiKi.
