I wake up to my alarm going off next to me. I slap it, causing the alarm to cease its chirping. Groaning, I roll out of bed. Shoot! Today is choosing day!

Divergent. The word echoes through my mind. Uriah is too. He's candor and dauntless. I'm abnegation, dauntless, and erudite. What am I supposed to pick? Four left and look he well that worked out for him. Maybe I should transfer too. I shrug and head to the bathroom to get in the shower.

I wrap myself in a towel and head to my closet to pick my clothes for the day. My eyes scan it for something to wear. Perfect. I grab a black beanie, jeans, and a crop top. One of my favorite outfits. I quickly change and head out to the kitchen.

When I get there, Four and Zeke stand there, leaning against the counter with mugs in hand. The whole kitchen smells like coffee. "Hey, Doofi, " I tease and open the fridge. Four laughs. "Doofi?" Zeke asks, confused. "It means more than one doofus, dumbass, " I explain, pulling out the milk. He finally gets it and begins to laugh.

"You got borns this year?" Uriah asks Four as I start making my cereal. "Probably. If there isn't many then we might train together." We groan. Neither of us wants to train with the transfers. "Trust me, I feel the same way, " he chuckles and shakes his head. "Hopefully you don't have anyone like Eric, " Zeke teases. "Shit, " Four curses under his breath. We all look at him, confused. "Max is making him oversee me, " he explains, clearly pissed off.

"We gotta get going or we'll miss the train," Zeke says, setting his empty cup next to the sink. "You couldn't take the extra second to place it in the sink," I complain and Four laughs, placing his directly into the sink. "Thank you." "Technically after we leave, we won't live here anymore, so it won't be our problem," Uriah points out. "Remind me to go to Zeke and Shauna's and make a mess," I tell Four and he laughs. "I'm coming too, " he replies with a laugh.

We all jump onto the train and lean against the wall. The only one of us who I think might actually transfer is Marlene. She's really nice.

Mom comes walking towards us and pulls Uriah and I into a hug. "I love you no matter what, " she whispers and I squeeze her back. "I love you too, " We both say at the same time and smile a little. "But don't leave, " Zeke says from behind us.

"Wasn't planning on it, " Uri and I say in sync, turning to face him. "Creepy, " he says in a high pitched voice. "Imagine the controversy of two dauntless prodigies leaving, " Lynn teases. "I'm fine as long as you don't go to become a stiff or a softie, " Lynn laughs. "I would rather die, " Uriah replies with a smile.

We jump off to go to the hub and run in, elbowing people out of the way to get to the elevators. "Scooch it! Three prodigies coming through!" Zeke yells and the three of us laugh as Lynn, Marlene, Uriah, Zeke, Shauna, and I all fill an elevator. Zeke starts tapping on the wall with his knuckles and soon enough, all of us and banging on the walls or floor, making music. It ain't too bad. We all smile and laugh until the doors open and reveal a bunch of stiffs staring at us. "Greetings, " I say and walk by proudly to the dauntless section.

Everyone giggles behind me as I walk up the stairs. "I don't think she's going anywhere," Shauna tells Zeke and he nods in agreement. I take a seat between Zeke and Uriah. I should scare them. If they know me, they'll know it's a joke.
