We all sit at our usual table, without Zeke, Shauna, and Tobias. He is basically just their third wheel. I can't wait to sit with them again. Hopefully, Zeke will have a candor or dauntless party tonight. He most likely will.

"Today is the last day of stage three and your initiation. Only ten of you will make it into dauntless and five will get fence guard jobs, " Tobias explains. We nod. "Ranks will be announced tonight in the put and job choosing will be tomorrow morning. Got it?" We nod again. "First is Al, " Eric calls and they lead him away. At least I don't have to see him anymore. I hope he becomes factionless.

All of us sit down in seats, waiting for either lunch or our name to be called. I really hope I get to go before lunch. What sucks is that Eric has to see my fears. I know he's gonna make fun of me.

What if they find me? Kill me? They're gonna kill me. What if they find Uriah? Oh God no. That's the worst case scenario. I made it this far, I can't die now.

Damn it. Eric instructs us to go to lunch and I reluctantly stand up. I really don't want my food to make a reappearance all over the floor. Lynn already got to go. Lucky.

We all sit down at the lunch table and my body refuses to allow me to eat anything. I glance over Uriah's shoulder and see Zeke stepping up onto the table. You know what this means...CANDOR OR DAUNTLESS! Sure enough, that's what he yells. It's right after ranks too. Awesome.

Oh no. "Shopping!" Mar and Shauna squeal from opposite sides of the cafeteria. The whole cafeteria looks from one to the other. I mean over to Uriah with a smirk. "I see that you and Zeke have a type." He laughs and pushes me. I raise my hands innocently.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Shauna waited for us outside the testing room, " Lynn teases. I wouldn't either. Shauna would totally do that if it meant getting us to actually go shopping. "At least you don't get stuck with setting up like the guys do, " Uriah argues. "I would gladly trade, " I add with a smile.

It's only Uriah, Edward, Molly, and I left to go. My foot taps quickly on the tile floor. I can't believe Eric's gonna watch my fears. Molly seems way too cocky. So does Edward. At least Peter already went. Marlene is probably already shopping with Shauna and dragging Lynn around against her will.

It's only Uriah and I left in the room, waiting. "What if he finds out?" Uriah asks, breaking the comfortable silence that lingers in the room. I shrug and shake my head. At least I can shrug with both shoulders now. Now I just have to try and rest my shoulder.

"We hope he doesn't, " I reply after about ten seconds of silence. "It's bad enough he has to see my fears, " I add and he nods. "At least mine isn't as bad as yours, " he teases trying to laughter the mood. He nudges my elbow with his. "Oh fuck off." I shove him to the side.

"Rest your shoulder, " he says in a high, old lady's voice. I shake my head with laughter. "Nope. I got shit to do, " I retort in a fake, gruff voice. "Then why did you do it in the first place?" He questions. "I'm not letting one of my best friends fall to their death, even if they tell me to." He smiles gently at me. "Are you sure you don't being in stiffland?" I nod, laughing.

The door open and Tobias walks in without Eric. "Eric isn't watching. Zeke helped me, but he doesn't know. I just said I was sick of dealing with him," he says quickly and with a small smile. We nod, trying to show our gratitude. "Yeah, nobody wants to see your last one, " Uriah nudges me again. "I've seen worse, " Tobias says. "What?" Uriah asks eagerly. "Come with me the both of you," he commands and we stand up to follow.

We both stand in the official testing room. Tobias prepares two syringes and motions for one of us to sit down. "You two can decide who goes first." He adjusts the syringe in his hand. I shrug and sit down.
