*3rd POV*
Emilia runs into Kori's room as fast as her little legs can carry her, before jumping up on her mother's bed and climbing on top of her mother.
"Mommy! Mommy wake up!" Emi yells, as Kori tries to wipe sleep out of her eyes.
"Hey baby. Get up off of Mommy, so Mommy can make breakfast. Why don't you go wake up Ashton?" She commented, and Emi nodded quickly.
Emi ran off, as Kori got out of her bed and headed towards the kitchen. She decided on only making pancakes, since she knew Emi didn't need too much on her stomach if she was going to be running around and playing. Once she had enough pancakes for Emi and Ashton, she called them down to eat. As they ate, she went to her room and took off her night clothes, before slipping on a pair of black skinny jeans and a white Blood on the Dance Floor t shirt. After she was dressed, she headed back into the kitchen and seen Ashton was done, so she sent him to change and get ready for work.
Kori waited for Emi to finish eating, before she brought her to her room and cleaned her up. She then put her in a pair of blue jeans and a grey Doc McStuffins t shirt. She slid on her Teen Titans Go tennis shoes, before Kori grabbed her own black Vans. Kori texted Marshall to head over, before she quickly packed Ashton's lunch, which consisted of a sandwich and some water. She handed Ashton his lunch, before he went out the door and headed off to work.
"Can we go now Mommy?" Emi asked, and Kori smiled softly down at her.
"Mommy has a surprise for you, so when they get here, we'll leave." She replied, and Emi nodded quickly.
Marshall texted asking if Kori and Emi wanted breakfast, but Kori replied that she had made pancakes and if he and Hailie were hungry she'd make more. He agreed, before he turned down her road. He was surprised by the way her house looked. It wasn't exactly the best looking house, it was very beat up and tattered. Of course, he wouldn't call any attention to it, since he wasn't sure how much money Kori made. Anyhow, he took Hailie out of her seat, before walking her to the door. Kori answered instantly, and smiled at the both of them. Hailie hugged her tightly, feelings of trust easily washing through her ever since Kori had protected her last night.
"Pancakes are on the table, help yourselves." Kori said, before showing them to the kitchen.
She fixed them some juice, before she sat down and ate her own two pancakes. After they were done, she put all the dishes in the sink, before picking up Emi and carrying her to Marshall's car. He helped her set up the car seat, before she placed Emi in it. They then made their drive to the park. Once they got there, Hailie pulled Emi with her to the slides. Both children quickly becoming friends. As the kids played, Marshall and Kori sat at a picnic table, and decided to converse.
"Tell me about yourself. Maybe your family or whatever you feel comfortable talking about." Marshall said, and Kori nodded.
"Well, I'm twenty four years old, and my daughter Emi is almost four. I moved here almost four years ago. I used to live in Charming California, but I moved away since there was so many bad things happening. I used every dime I had to move up here and start a new life, conversing with some of the people still in Charming as much as possible. I have a brother and Dad that lives there. My brother is currently doing a five year stint in prison though, but it wasn't his fault. The guy who got him arrested, it was his fault completely. I still talk to my brother's wife and two kids, not my Dad much. I worked down at the bar close to the gas station we were at last night. My friend Bridget works there too, and she has a daughter named Marcela. I take care of her when Bridget can't. What about you?" Kori asked, and Marshall sighed.
"Well, I'm a semi-famous rapper right now. I just bought a nice house and car last year, but I used to live in a trailer with my Mom and Hailie. Hailie's mom isn't around, though she likes to say she's always around. My best friend Proof helps care for Hailie when I'm busy at the studio. I don't see my Mom anymore, now that I don't have to. She really fucked up my life man, and I don't want that to happen again. If you don't mind me asking, where's Emilia's Dad?" Marshall asked, and Kori sighed.
"Emi's Dad is a cop down in Charming. See, I don't trust cops, I grew up being told never to trust them. Honestly I grew up in a fucked up place, so that's why I wanted to be out of there before Emi was born, and before they found out the cop was her father. I slept with him trying to get my brother's sentence put down to six months, but after sleeping together he said he had no jurisdiction with it and I got very pissed off and never seen him again." She answered, and Marshall nodded.
Marshall's phone began to ring, and he looked at it and seen it was Proof. He answered it, and Proof told him there was a few guys causing problems around the studio. Proof told him to hurry down to the studio to help take care of the issue. Marshall was angry, but also perplexed.
"Sorry, I need to go. There's something going on, and I need to hurry up. I got to find a place for Hailie before I even get there. Proof is waiting on me." Marshall said quickly, and Kori nodded.
She went and got Hailie and Emi, before walking them out to Marshall's car. She helped them get in and buckle up, before she sat in the front with Marshall.
"You could always leave Hailie with me, and I'll watch her until you get back." Kori said, and Marshall bit his lip.
He trusted Kori a bit, but he wasn't sure how much he trusted the neighborhood she lived in. Nonetheless, he sighed, knowing he had grown up in bad neighborhoods before. He didn't want to judge Kori because of where she resided.
"Alright, and I'll try not to be too long." Marshall replied, and Kori shook her head with a smile.
"Take all the time you need. I'll feed them some lunch and have them watch a movie." Kori retorted, and Marshall nodded.
He pulled into Kori's driveway and stepped out of his truck. Kori placed the carseat back in her car, before carrying Emi inside. Marshall helped Hailie out, before kneeling down in front of her.
"You be good for Kori, Daddy has something he needs to take care of. I love you baby." He said, before carrying Hailie inside.
Kori took her from Marshall, before sitting her down at the table with Emi. Marshall said goodbye to the three girls, before leaving and gunning his way to Proof. Kori fixed the girls macaroni and cheese for lunch, before having the sit and watch Dumbo. As they watched the movie, both girls laid their heads on Kori's lap. After about fifteen minutes, both girls had fallen asleep on Kori. She smiled down at them and ran her fingers through their hair. They really were beautiful and perfect girls...
