Chapter Thirty Nine

        Today Marshall was coming home. The girls were at school, and didn't know today Marshall was coming home. I knew the girls were going to be surprised when they seen their father after school. So, I made sure the house was completely clean before he got home. I know the house was normally clean, but I wanted it to be spotless. I even made sure Whitney's room was clean as well, even though she pulls out all of her toys at one time and is constantly throwing stuff around. I knew she was just playing around and hasn't broken any of her toys yet, she just doesn't exactly know how to play like Emi and Hailie do with their toys.

      Anyhow, as I was putting the girls in their seats for lunch, I heard the front door open. I quickly whipped around to see Marshall walking in with his bags. He placed them down next to the couch, before I ran over to him and wrapped my arms around him.

"I miss you so much!" I exclaimed, and he laughed.

"I missed you too, baby." He replied, as he planted a kiss on my lips.

     Anyhow, he followed me into the kitchen, where Whitney and Lori were eating lunch. Once they seen Marshall, they started yelling and trying to get out of their seats to get to him.

"No, you girls need to eat." He said, and they pouted.

     He walked over to them and kissed their heads, before sitting down at the table. I grabbed a bottle of water, as well as a plate of hotdogs and mac and cheese, the same lunch as the girls, before placing it down in front of him. I got my own as well, before sitting at the table beside him.

"So, how was your tour?" I asked, and he smiled.

"Pretty awesome. There were thousands of fans, so many sold out shows, and a lot of awesome sites. I would've loved to have brought you with me. You would've loved everything I seen." Marshall said, and I smiled.

"Maybe when the girls are older. Once Cela is an adult, then we'll think about it." I commented, and Marshall nodded.

"Sounds like a plan to me." He replied, as he finished his lunch.

       Once we were all done eating, I cleaned up the girls, before he picked them up and brought them into their rooms for a nap. Whilst he was putting them down for their nap, I started cleaning the lunch dishes. After doing the dishes, I went down to get the mail. I flipped through it, before seeing a letter from Jax. I sat down on the couch and opened the envelope. When I pulled the letter out, a picture of Jax, Opie and I fell out; the picture was very old. I smiled sadly at the picture, before beginning to read the letter.

    Dear Kori,

      I know the last time we seen each other, we didn't exactly leave on good terms. The last time we spoke, it wasn't the best conversation to have. I found out my mother killed Tara. Juice told me the whole story. He had found her with Tara, when Franklin had come in and he killed him to protect Gemma. I realized that you left for a good reason, and so I sent my boys with Wendy and Nero. I know you never liked Wendy, which is why I'm telling you where my boys are. With telling you, I know they'll have someone looking out for them, even when you're miles away. Wendy and I rekindled our friendship, a bit at least, and I just wanted to protect my boys. I would've sent them to you, but I knew you already had six children. I killed Gemma, to avenge Tara. So, with killing an old lady, I had to hide out. I'm telling you this because you were one of my best friends. I'm so proud of you, your family, how well your old man treats you. Please don't think this is your fault. All of this had been a long time coming, in which case, I'm saying, if you got this letter, that means Wendy had sent it to you, at least, I hope she did. If she didn't and you're still reading this, that means she screwed up and Nero contacted you. Nero has your number, so he can call you about the boys. He's keeping tabs on Lyla as well for you, having her keep him updated on Kenny and Ellie. I made sure all loose ends were tied up, and in any case, you get custody of the children if Lyla or Wendy screw up. Chibs is now President of the Sons, and he'll make sure everything goes according to play. They all will, because they care for those children, all ten of them, and they care for you and Marshall, so they want to make sure everything happens for the best. I love you Kori. I'm sorry you never got to hear me say it often, but I'm saying it now, one last time. This isn't a goodbye, it's a see you later. I'm sorry Kori. Like I had said before, I was supposed to meet Mister Mayhem, and they decided to fake it. I've run from the cops and was killed with honor, same as my father. I love you.

      I felt the tears in my eyes begin to go down my face. I couldn't believe my best friend since diapers was now gone forever. I would keep the promise of checking in on his boys, as well as my niece and nephew. I'll take them in if needed, no matter the consequences.

"Baby, are you okay?" Marshall asked, and I shook my head.

"Jax is gone." I replied, before I passed him the letter.

      I stood up and looked in the closet for a picture frame, before putting the picture of Jax, Opie and I in it. I brought the picture up to mine and Marshall's room, before laying it on my dresser.

"I'm sorry baby. I know shit keeps happening, but I know it'll get better. At least you know you still have contact with all of the kids, and the club is still looking out for you. He truly was an amazing friend to you, and I know how much you both cared for each other. It'll get better soon, I promise." Marshall stated, as he hugged me to him.

"I love you, Marshall." I said, as he kissed my head.

"I love you, Kori." He replied, and I smiled.

      At least I still had my girls and Marshall...

A/N: I hope you guys liked this chapter. I bet you weren't expecting such a long letter from Jax, but it was his goodbye letter to Kori.
