About three hours later, Ashton came home in a bad mood. I sent Emi to her room, before checking and making sure Marcela was still laying down. When I came back into the living room, Ashton glared at me. I felt my blood run cold, as he stalked his way over to me.
"Why is there bags on the couch? You better not have that bastard's kid staying here." Ashton spat, and I shook my head.
"No, I don't have her over. I have Marcela over, since her grandmother died and Bridget needs time to adjust." I answered, and Ashton rolled his eyes.
"Adjust?! That's her fucking kid! She needs to take care of that bastard child of her and not have her in this house!" Ashton exclaimed, and I bit my lip.
"Ashton, I decided to take her in. I didn't want her to be too upset. Please be quiet, Marcela is asleep." I pleaded, but Ashton shook his head.
He grabbed my arm roughly, before getting in my face.
"You don't tell me to be quiet! This is my house you bitch! You keep your dumbass kids quiet so I can sleep! You best hope that black one doesn't cry all night, or you'll regret it!" He spat in my face, and I looked at him.
"First off, get the fuck out of my face. Secondly, she's not black, she's fucking Puerto Rican. Lastly, don't you ever call those kids fucking names." I spat, which made him angry.
He threw me to the ground, crawled on top of me, and proceeded to beat the crap out of me. I heard one of the bedroom doors open, and I prayed whichever kid it was that they wouldn't come out of that room. I felt myself start becoming light headed, as he weakened his blows. I was seeing black spots when he stopped punching me, but before I could do anything, I had passed out.
**Marshall's pov**
As I sat in my living room with Hailie and Lainie watching cartoons, I heard my phone start ringing. I was going to let it go to voicemail, but I realized it was Kori. I answered the phone, not sure what the reason was for Kori calling me.
M- Hello?
Mar- Marshall?!
M- who's this?
Mar- It's Marcela. Please, you need to get over here!
M- Marcela?! Why do you have Kori's phone?! What's wrong?! What happened?!
Mar- Kori won't wake up! She got beat up Marshall! I can't get Emi to stop crying!
M- Hang on Marcela, I'm on my way.
I quickly texted Proof and told him to meet me at Kori's house, before I had the girls put on their shoes and we left. We headed to Kori's, and luckily Proof pulled up right behind me.
"What happened? You sounded worried on the phone?" Proof asked, and I bit my lip.
"I don't know, man. Marcela, the girl Kori's watching, called me and said Kori was beat up and unconscious. She also said Emi was upset and bawling, she couldn't get her to calm down. Could you take my girls and her girls, so I can get her to the hospital or at least woke up?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Of course, doody." He replied, and I nodded relieved.
He got Hailie and Lainie into his truck, before we both walked inside. I gasped when I seen Kori on the floor, beaten up, bloody, and unconscious. As soon as the girls seen me, they jumped up off the floor next to Kori, and wrapped their arms around me. Both of them were crying, as I held them close to me.
"Marshall! Mommy won't wake up!" Emi cried, shattering my heart with her tears.
"I'm going to fix Mommy, but you two need to go with Proof. He's going to bring you guys and the girls to his house until I come and get you, okay?" I said, and they nodded.
"Please help Kori, Marshall. I can't lose her too." Marcela whispered, as she wrapped her arms around my neck.
"I promise, Marcela. I'll do everything I can to help Kori." I replied, and she nodded.
Proof picked up Emi, as she buried her face into his neck, before he wrapped his other arm around Marcela's shoulders and then guided them out to his car. Once they left, I got down on the floor next to Kori, and checked for a pulse. Luckily she was still breathing and everything, so she was just unconscious. I picked Kori up and laid her on the couch, before going and finding her first aid kit. I then decided to check for any broken bones, before even trying any type of first aid. I could see hand shaped bruises on her arms, as well as one on her neck. Her face was very bloody, but I knew I had to clean her up. I quickly cleaned up her face as gently as I could, before looking over her face. With how swollen her face was, as well as the amounts of bruises on her body, made it almost impossible to find any broken bones or anything.
I groaned, before lifting her up again and bringing her out to my truck. I quickly got into my truck as well, before driving to the hospital. I carried her inside and yelled for a nurse or doctor. An old African American nurse came over, and had me lay her on a gurney.
"What happened to her?" The lady asked, as a doctor and a few other nurses took her away, which was not what I liked at all.
"I'm not sure. All I know is she was beaten up. Her oldest daughter called me saying she was unconscious and bloody on the floor." I replied, and the nurse nodded.
"Where's her daughters? Who are you to her, only immediate family can get updates on her condition." The nurse asked, and I sighed.
"They're with my friend, he's watching all four of our kids. Uh, she's my girlfriend." I replied, lying through my teeth.
"Alright, well, just sit out here in the waiting room and we'll update you as soon as we figure out her condition." The nurse stated, and I nodded.
I begrudgingly sat down in the waiting room, putting my head in my hands. I didn't know what to expect. I'm just hoping she's okay. I don't know what'll happen if she's not. I can't tell her kids if something bad happens, I wouldn't have the heart...
