VALENTINA WAITED A couple of days before she hunted down the scrap of paper which held Rogers number. She hated being desperate enough to call him, but she had a sort of good feeling about him that wouldn't go away – so she decided to just go with it. What was the worst that could happen after all?

She picked up the phone and called Emilia first, as she hadn't yet told her friend about her most recent encounter with the handsome drummer. "Hello? Emilia speaking" the familiar sing-song voice of her best friend rang through the telephone.

"Emilia! It's Val. I have news" Valentina spoke, looking down at her nails.
"Ooh, you must tell me immediately!" She sounded invested, and she imagined Emilia was getting herself comfy on her sofa as she spoke.

"Well, two nights ago after work I went to Eddies Records just to browse. I was just looking around and someone bumped into me, I'll give you a fiver if you can guess who.." Valentina trailed off.

"Ummm" her friend mumbled, "oh no way!" She suddenly seemed to catch on, "it was that guy right?! Roger!" Emilia burst out excitedly.

"Spot on. Can you fucking believe it? I was a bit annoyed at first, but we had kind of a nice conversation actually. He told me to call him if I still had his number.." Valentina trailed off.

"Do it!" Emilia fired back immediately, "pleaseee" she pleaded like a child, making Valentina laugh.
"Fine, I will. But I'm not saying it will go anywhere" she replied in a warning tone.
"Whatever. Just do it, V. And let me know how it goes!" Emilia added, before hastily hanging up the phone, making Valentina roll her eyes and laugh a little.

She picked up the old piece of paper with Rogers messy scrawl on, and repeated the numbers into her phone. After she'd listened to the dial tone for a while, Roger picked up.
"Hello?" He spoke.

"Hi, drummer boy" she replied, a little smile finding it's way onto her cheeks.

"Ah, Valentina. Knew you'd call eventually" he said.

"But did you really?" She replied in a questioning tone.

He paused, "no. I actually thought you weren't into me.." he replied.

"Who said I'm into you? Maybe I'm just bored" Valentina teased, playing with the wire of the phone.

"You're that sort of woman, aren't you?" He chuckled, and she could almost hear him roll his eyes.

"Of course. There's no fun if there isn't a little chase, right Roger?" She smirked.

"I guess so, but I'm not used to it. Usually it's the girls that chase after me. You're bad for my reputation" he joked.

"Well it'll be good for you. Your ego is too big" Valentina stated simply, smiling as she imagined his reaction.

"I get it, you think I'm too cocky. It's just who I am" he replied, laughing.
