IT WAS MAY the 6th, and it had been two weeks since Freddie's party. Valentina felt like she had been living in a cloudy bubble since that night, her thoughts always running at a hundred miles an hour about everything that had happened between her and Roger. Her heart wanted her to forgive him, but her head told her the opposite. She was torn.

She was at work, at her desk, head in the clouds, as she sketched out designs for new summer looks. She had been rather uninspired lately.
"Valentina? Can I have a word?" The voice of her boss broke her from her thoughts. She looked up at the older woman in front of her.

Winona, her boss, always wore her dark brown hair in a high bun, scraped our of the way. She often wore a lot of makeup, and she was usually dressed in the most currently-fashionable outfits and expensive jewellery. Valentina nodded, and stood up, heading to her office.

"What's up?" she asked, trying her best to sound chipper. She fooled nobody.

"I just wanted to check in with you. You haven't seemed yourself for months now, and it's affecting your work ethic. You are one of my most valued members of staff, and I'm worried about you. You hold this team of designers together, and without you being your best self, this team crumbles" Winona spoke. Valentina wondered whether she was genuinely concerned about her wellbeing, or whether she was just being selfish because her work hadn't been it's best. It was probably the latter.

"Oh. I'm so sorry Winona, I've been through something a little tough the past few months, and I'm just getting back on my feet. I know my work hasn't been at the best standard lately, and I can't apologise enough. I promise I'll work harder and get my head back in the right place. I'm sorry.." she trailed off, trying to keep her thoughts away from Roger to avoid getting more upset.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Valentina. I hope you find the support you need to get through it. We care about you here, and I just want you to be in the best place, for you, and for your work" she emphasised the word 'you', clearly trying to convince her she did care.

"Thanks. I'll be back to normal soon, sorry again. I better get back to work" she smiled half-heartedly, and with a soft smile and nod from her boss, she turned on her red platform heel and exited the office.

As she went back to her desk, she heard some of the other women talking in hushed voices. She could've sworn she heard whispers of the name "Roger Taylor" and "broken up", but she tried to ignore it and focus.
