Danny: yo Arin do you want to join me at band practice today?
Arin blinked in confusion at that text at the weekend one morning.
Arin: band practice? It's the weekend
Danny: oh yeah you don't know
Danny: we sometimes hang out at Havve's house at the weekend to practice, or just chill I guess
Danny: ya wanna come with? It'd be more fun with you there <3
Bunching up the hem of her shirt Arin blushed, unsure how to respond. She didn't know whether to make her own cute compliment back, react to Danny's, or act as if nothing happened! She didn't want to mess this up.
Arin: okay what time?
She cringed at her response, but Danny didn't seem to mind.
Danny: cool! I'm getting dropped off by my parents so we could pick you up at like 12?
Arin glanced at the time, around ten thirty. That seemed reasonable - she had time to get dressed (she was still in her pyjamas) and look presentable. Though now there was a new challenge. Arin felt her heart pick up speed as she looked over her clothes, thinking what Danny would like. But what if she drove him away with her lack of fashion?
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, Arin tried to not let her mind run wild with those thoughts.
Arin: that's fine. See you then
Danny: see ya boo
Danny: wait am I allowed to call you that or is it too early?
Danny: sorry I'm new to this xD
Seeing that actually managed to calm Arin down properly and she sighed with the realisation that she and Danny were both clueless about the situation. She even let out a small laugh to herself as she picked out a pair of leggings and grey sweater, deciding to go casual. Going into the bathroom she did her daily shave and decided to at least make some effort with her hair since she had time. Recalling Danny's birthday she figured she could try the bun again, and surprisingly after a few failed attempts managed to get it right. She smiled; she was getting the hang of being more female, and that made her happy.
Looking at the time, it was now almost eleven. She could have a quick brunch or snack of some sorts, then just chill until 12. Nodding to herself, Arin made her way downstairs to tell her parents what was happening. They seemed glad she was getting out of the house, and after making herself a small sandwich Arin was back in her room. Wondering what she could do to pass the time she opened up her laptop and scrolled through her YouTube suggestions, and conveniently found a compilation of funny cat videos. Perfect.

"H-Hi, Mrs Avidan..." Arin greeted shyly as she climbed into the back of the car next to Danny.
"Hello, Erin, is it?" Danny's mum replied, looking in the rearview mirror at her.
"Uh, Arin."
"Oh sorry. I don't think we've ever met before, Arin, but Danny's told me a lot about you." She looked out the window to check for other cars as she pulled out into the road again.
"I-It's nice to meet you, Mrs Avidan."
"You can call me Debbie," Danny's mum offered with a laugh.
"Oh, uh o-okay..."
In the corner of her eye Arin saw Danny suppressing a laugh at her awkwardness, and she shoved his shoulder playfully. He finally let out a quiet chuckle as he shoved her back, then gazing out the window at the passing houses. Arin saw his hand rested on the seat next to him, and like the cheesy rom-coms she felt the urge to reach out and place hers on top. Catching sight of Debbie's reflection in the rearview mirror, however, made her second guess that decision and a sudden thought entered her mind. She took out her phone and pulled up Danny's contact.
