A/N: this mashup is so great! so bouncyyyy ^^^
Danny: hey
Arin: hey
Danny: ya wanna talk about today?
Arin: no not really, I said everything I wanted earlier
Danny sighed, leaning back on the stage in the music room. TWRP were doing something with their instruments in the background somewhere, and Brian was still grounded by his parents. Danny had tried to persuade Arin to join him at band practice, but he was very insistent that he just wanted to go home and be alone. Danny was never one to give up so easily, though.
It was Friday afternoon now, and Danny at least wanted to cheer Arin up for the weekend. Thinking about him being alone for two days made him uneasy; what if he cut more? The least he could do was try and put him in a better state of mind.
Danny: well, a little more never hurt anyone. For meee?
He decided to take a less serious approach, maybe make Arin laugh.
Arin: stop trying to help, I'm okay now
Danny: come on man you know I worry about you
Arin: well don't, I'm fine
Wow, he's really shutting me out.
Danny: okay, okay, do you want to hang out at some point this weekend, though? We haven't had any bro time in a while
Arin: you're only saying that so you can keep an eye on me. I'm not going to do it again
Arin: I promise
Danny: fine maybe that was one of the reasons. But believe it or not I actually enjoy your company
There was a pause, and Danny wondered if he'd played the jokey card too many times. He thought about texting something more sincere, but finally Arin replied.
Arin: really?
Danny smiled. There it is.
At long last he'd broken through Arin's walls. For the first time after what felt like an eternity he could hear the Arin he knew and loved in that text. The awkward, shy Arin who, for whatever reason, couldn't seem to fathom the idea that Danny actually liked him.
Danny: yeah man! I've missed hanging out with you
Danny: what do you say we make up for lost time tomorrow?? ;D
Arin: I guess... what can we do though?
Danny: ya like video games? I've got a bunch that we could play, and my parents will be out all day tomorrow so we can be as loud as we want
Arin: I never really got into them.
Danny: :0 what?!
Danny: Get ready, Arin. Tomorrow is officially your initiation as a gamer
Arin: Haha, okay, what time?
Danny: Depends, ya wanna have lunch with me or at your own house?
Arin: Um I don't mind
Danny: 10 okay with you, then? I can probably force myself to get up by then lol
Arin: Okay. Can you send me your address though?
Danny: Sure
Danny couldn't stop smiling as he texted Arin his address. For some reason he was really excited to hang out with Arin. Sure, he seemed to have cheered him up some, but under that he was genuinely looking forward to tomorrow. His smile dropped suddenly, however, as he felt someone slam into the back of him, almost causing him to drop his phone.
"What the f-" he muttered.
Looking to the side he saw Meouch leaning over his shoulder eagerly, leaning on his back slightly. The mane of his mask tickled Danny's face and he tried to move away slightly, spluttering as he got some of it in his mouth.
"What'cha doin'?" Meouch piped, curiously looking down at Danny's phone.
"Just texting Arin. He's coming round my house tomorrow to play some video games."
"Aw, and we were gonna ask you if you wanted to hang out!"
"Oh, really? Sorry guys, if I'd known I wouldn't have arranged anything."
Danny managed to shrug Meouch off his shoulder finally and turned around. The group came forward and joined him on the edge of the stage, sitting in a line.
"It's cool, Danny. We can hang out another time," assured Sung with a grin.
"Thanks Sung. But yeah we definitely should hang out soon, it's been ages since we saw each other outside of school."
"Last time was the cinema trip!" chirped Meouch happily.
The rest of them glared at the lion, remembering the scare he'd given them all that night. Meouch only smiled and stuck his tongue out in response, clearly not feeling at all bad about making them all think that he'd drowned. There was a pause between the group.
"Hey, Danny?"
Danny leaned forward, looking over in surprise at Phobos, hearing his quiet tone. He and Havve seldom spoke, and when they did they were fairly shy. Not the anxious shy like Arin, just generally soft-spoken.
"Yeah, Phob?"
"I don't know if Sung or Meouch have mentioned it, but we've been working on a new song, and we were wondering if you wanted to help us with some lyrics."
Like the flick of a switch Danny broke into a grin. He stood up eagerly, slipping his phone into his pocket and beckoning for the others to stand too.
"Like you even need to ask me that! Of course I'll help, come on!"

Humming the tune of TWRP's new song softly to himself, Danny opened his front door. He called a greeting out into the house to anyone who was around and instantly made his way upstairs to his room. He flopped face first onto his bed, throwing his bag off to the side somewhere and not really caring all too much if anything inside broke; he had his phone on him, the only other thing was possibly a calculator. He laid there for a while until the oxygen filtering through his bed covers wasn't enough and he felt his lungs begging for more. Rolling onto his back and taking a well needed breath he found himself staring at a ceiling covered in posters. Mostly bands (too many to name) though there was a Last Unicorn one that he could see. His favourite movie and book.
As his eyes traced the outline of the horned horse the TWRP tune still playing in his head morphed into the Last Unicorn theme, and he started to hum it quietly to himself.
Glancing away from his ceiling Danny observed the other wall decorations in his room. Again, a lot of posters. He smirked to himself thinking of what Arin would think when he saw them tomorrow. He could imagine Arin walking in, pausing in the doorway and looking around curiously before awkwardly complimenting the room. That thought just made him smile more.
I can't wait for tomorrow.
