A/N: it's heeeeere! The scene I've been waiting to write for months! I Know the lead up to this was kind of rushed, but I'm really excited to share this arc (I'm writing this note before I even start writing it, so lets hope it goes to plan) Enjoy!

"How do you do these things... come on, just--- ugh! DEBBIIIIIIIIIIIE! Can you come here a second?"

Danny groaned to himself as he let his arms fall to his side, giving in to the stubborn tie hanging around his neck. He looked pitifully over at Debbie as she stuck her head into his room. "How do you tie a tie?"

Debbie huffed a laugh as she walked over, gesturing for him to face her.

"Come here, I'll do it."

Danny held back another groan of frustration as he allowed her to grab the tie. He glanced down as she tied it, trying to memorise the movements of her hands for next time. The only formal attire he'd ever worn was a dress (reluctantly) when he was younger, so this was a whole new experience. Debbie hummed as she finished, going to grab the suit jacket that was draped over the foot of Danny's bed and pass it to him. It was tighter than Danny expected it to be, but he shrugged it on all the same. Debbie brushed away some specks from his shoulder and smoothed it out some before stepping back to look over him. A smile split her face and Danny couldn't help but think she looked like she was about to cry.

"Debbie..? You okay?" he asked, going towards her in worry.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just, so nice to see you like this." She wiped the tears that were starting to form from her eyes. "You're growing into such a handsome young man."

"Aw, Mum..."

He wrapped his arms around her, smiling as he rubbed her back. He heard her sniffle as her emotions got the best of her and allowed himself to chuckle a little. "You're not crying all over my new suit, are you?"

Debbie to her credit laughed too, pulling back to take another look at him before she shook her head and composed herself.

"Are you going to put your hair up? It's a little all over the place," she observed, changing the subject.

"Hm, I dunno. I think I like the wild look. Don't want to look too serious, do I?"

"Right. Prom is about having fun." She checked her watch, "Your friends will be here soon, you'd better finish getting ready. I'll leave you to it."

With one last smile Debbie left, closing the door behind her and leaving Danny by himself. He turned back to his mirror, looking himself up and down. His stubble was still growing in, but it was now much more noticeable. His face really hadn't changed, though his skin texture was a little rougher and masculine. It was slow, but as the changes started to show through more Danny realised he didn't care too much. He was happier than he'd ever been, and honestly he was content with how he looked in the moment. There were still those bad days, but the good ones outnumbered those nowadays.

Danny shook himself out of his head, remembering that he still needed to finish up. He adjusted his hair a little, making sure it was at least presentable, before going in search of some socks and his shoes. It felt like no time until the doorbell rang downstairs. Quickly doing up his jacket and giving himself a once-over in the mirror one last time, he hurried downstairs to see Debbie and Brian talking at the front door. Hearing his footsteps Debbie moved aside, and Brian's blue eyes went wide when he saw Danny. Danny laughed.

"Dude, don't look at me like that."

"Sorry. You just look... very different."

"Tell me about it. Where are the guys?"
