A/N: found another Arin song
Danny didn't answer any of Arin's text that night. There wasn't even any "I don't want to talk right now", just nothing. Silence. And silence scared Arin; there was never silence between her and Danny.
Sat up in her room staring at her phone, a list of her dozens of unanswered messages, Arin felt tears creep up in the corners of her eyes. She blinked them away quickly, shaking her head. She was still blaming herself for earlier: maybe Danny wouldn't have walked off if she hadn't asked that question?
So, do you like her?
Even now it was imprinted in her mind. She wanted to know. She wanted the answer to be no. She was jealous, and she'd foolishly acted on the feeling - as if Danny would choose her over someone like Ashley.
Still, if nothing else she wanted to remedy her slip-up today. Placing her phone down finally Arin huffed and looked around her room. Her eyes ended up on her sketchbook, and a lightbulb lit suddenly above her head. Words weren't Arin's strong suit, she spoke far better through actions. Reaching over she opened up the sketchbook to the unicorn drawing she'd been working on today. She smiled remembering Danny's reaction to it and grabbed a pencil. Looking at the time, it was only 8. She could finish this drawing, and then she could give it to Danny tomorrow, as an apology.
Pulling up a playlist on her phone Arin put her headphones on, preparing for the night ahead of her. Pencil met paper and Arin felt the music carry her away, guiding her hand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Arin! Are you awake?"
With a groan Arin forced open her eyes. As her senses came to life she heard a faint sound and looked over to see her headphones on the bed, still playing music as they had fallen off her head. Sitting up slowly Arin noticed the pencil still in her hands and suddenly remembered what she'd been doing last night.
Not able to remember the exact moment she fell asleep Arin looked around wildly, hoping she managed to finish the drawing before she apparently passed out. It wasn't anywhere on her bed. Leaning over she finally caught sight of her sketchbook on the floor, and sighed in relief when she saw none of the pages had creased in the fall.
It was upside down so Arin picked it up to see. She smiled at a complete drawing, though purely pencil. Her eyes traced every detail as if it were the first time she'd seen it, and as she looked at the bottom she caught sight of a small written note. It was her handwriting, but she definitely didn't remember writing it.
For Danny <3
Arin scrambled to find a rubber, her entire face a beetroot red. When she located one she almost faceplanted rushing back to her bed. She furiously erased the heart, continuing to rub the paper even when it was long gone, just to be sure.
She couldn't let Danny see that, especially after they'd agreed to forget their moment. Finally satisfied it was gone, Arin cursed her half asleep self for even writing it in the first place.
Slipping her sketchbook back into her bag Arin went to get dressed for the day, then going through the usual motion of checking her face for any signs of facial hair. She sighed when she spotted some above her upper lip and, even though it would probably make her late, picked up her razor. She finished as quickly as she could and then made her way downstairs, checking the time and deciding to eat something as she walked to school. A slice of bread would do.
She waved to her mum in the living room with a smile before leaving the house. Taking out her phone she thought about texting Danny again, but her cheeks burned hot thinking about how clingy that would be. She'd see him during the day, she would give him the drawing then.
