Chapter Twenty-five

-Sonic and Fleetway were the last ones to make it to the middle. Everyone had been waiting for them while the alarms went off and Eggman's voice sounded from the speakers yelling out "GET THEM!!! GET ALL OF THEM!!!" Everyone had braced themselves as all the robots and some old villains came out of no where and surrounded the. Even Scourge and the Destructix, Finitevus, and Infinite showed up after they had been defeated. Sonic looked around at the sea of villains. It was just Mephiles, Mogul, and Zavok's team that weren't here to fight them.
-Sonic felt Fleetway tense as he looked at Naugus and Geoffrey. Naugus had bandages wrapped around his head to cover his right eye, but he was still able to glare at Sonic with his left. Geoffrey stood by his side with his arms crossed and had this smug look. Both of them didn't look too happy.
"That's Naugus' little sidekick isn't he?" Fleetway asked Sonic. "Haven't seen him in a while."
"Now's not the time to look back at memories," Sonic hissed at him. "Do you see what's happening? If we mess up it's game over for us and the entire world."
"Yeah, Yeah, I get it!" Fleetway sneered. "It shouldn't be that hard. We're all stronger then they are."
"Keep thinking that way," Sonic encouraged. "It'll help."
-Naugus was the first to take a step. He glared at Sonic as he pointed to his head where his right eye should've been. "Where's the one that did this? I want to fight him myself!"
"You're not worth my time," Fleetway snorted as he placed his hands on his hips. "I want to fight the stronger villains, not the wizard whom I was about to kill."
"You dare underestimate me!?" Naugus yelled out. "I'm taking you on whether you like it or not. I want revenge for what you did to me!" With that both Naugus and Geoffrey charged at Fleetway, signalling the other villains it was time to attack.
-Sonic was immediately tackled by Bark and hit the wall. Bark had locked his arms around Sonic while Nack and Bean stood in front of them. Sonic noticed that Nack's face still had cuts and bruises from the day they were at the ravine and he couldn't help but chuckle. "Still healing, Nack?"
"Don't test me!" Nack snarled. "I'm going to get back at you for what you did to my beautiful face!"
"Have you even looked in a mirror lately?" Sonic muttered and he heard Bark giggle quietly. Bean immediately drew back when Nack cocked his gun and pointed it at Sonic. Sonic widened his eyes and he started to struggle a bit. "Now hold on!" Sonic called out. "If you shoot me then you shoot Bark! You wouldn't do that to your teammate would you!?"
"Frankly, I do not care at this point," Nack growled. "Plus, Bark had already agreed to it."
-Sonic felt Bark tighten his grip and he tried desperately to get out of it, but it was no use. Not like this! Not like this! He cried in his head. He knew right then that he was going to die. He didn't care if he died though. He was just worried about the others, and Amy. He didn't want to leave them so soon. He watched Nack ready his finger on the trigger and closed his eyes as he waited for the gunshot to rise up and fill the room in echoes.
"Don't you dare!"
-Sonic looked up and saw Fleetway ramming himself into Nack as he pulled the trigger and shot up at the ceiling. Fleetway had pinned him to the ground while digging his claws into the side of Nack's head. He started growling when Nack looked up at him. "Don't move a muscle or I'll kill you on the spot!" He looked around at Bean and Bark, fire burning in his red eyes. "That goes for you two as well! Put down my brother and don't bother to try anything!"
-Bark let go of Sonic and dropped him on his feet. Sonic immediately ran over to Fleetway's side and looked at him in joy. "Thank you, brother. What happened to Naugus and Geoffrey?"
"Shadow and Blaze took my place when I said I needed to get to you," Fleetway assured. "So far we're winning and Tails knows where the weapon is."
"Good," Sonic started running. "Let's hurry up and get this over with!" He called out and Fleetway followed him.
-When it seemed like nothing was going to stop them, Sonic was knocked over again by Scourge. "Nuh-uh! You're staying here!"
-Fleetway grabbed Sonic's arms before he fell on the ground and helped him stand up. "Haven't you learned anything!?" Fleetway growled. "You hit him and I hit you harder!"
-Scourge snorted and looked at Sonic. "Why is it all of a sudden he's the one protecting you?" He sneered. "Does the Great Hero of Mobius need a fucking babysitter?"
"He's been protecting me," Sonic pointed out. "You just couldn't see him, and he's never leaving. He's my real evil twin, Scourge. You never had a chance!"
"I've dumped the evil twin shtick years ago," Scourge retorted. "What bugs me is that you're using him as your shield while hiding away like a coward!"
"I didn't choose this!" Sonic yelled. "We're bound to protect each other whether we like it or not. And honestly, neither of us need protecting."
"Sonic may do it because he's my brother, but I do it because I'm loyal to him and it's rather fun to fight people!" Fleetway laughed as he attacked Scourge. After throwing Scourge back he looked at Sonic and pointed to a dark hallway. "Tails is in there waiting for you among others!"
-Sonic nodded and was about to run when Fiona had blocked his way. "I don't think so!" She growled. "You've done enough damage already and I'm sick of it!"
-Sonic clenched his fists and narrowed his eyes as Fiona stood in her fighting stance. "You're really starting to annoy me," He muttered.
"Where's your girlfriend, Sonic?" Fiona asked in a fake sympathetic tone. "Is she not here to defend you?" Her tail then twitched and went to her other side as she smirked. "That makes it more fun!"
-She charged at Sonic and was about to punch him, but Sonic managed to block her and kicked her away from him. But it wasn't enough to stop her as she rammed herself into him and pinned him to the wall. Sonic then took his own head and slammed his forehead against Fiona's, which caused her to yell out and pull away from Sonic. Sonic was then about to use his homing attack on her when she smiled and punched Sonic in the stomach. Sonic coughed as he felt the wind get knocked out of him and collapsed onto the ground. He then started desperately gasping for air.
"It's a shame," Fiona spoke. "Something about you has changed, and it's sickening," She then crouched down and grabbed Sonic's chin to make him look at her. "You had such high hopes when we were stupid teenagers. Now we're all grown up and you've lost it."
-Sonic tried to speak, but his lungs were in pain as he did. "It...wasn't that...long ago...I still...have...it."
-Fiona dropped his chin and stood up. She popped her knuckles as her eyes lit up in excitement. "Oh well. It's still not enough to save you now---"
-Out of no where Amy had tackled Fiona and threw her over ten feet. As Fiona shook her head and looked up, Amy had brought out her hammer and swung it behind her head. "I told you already, Fiona. Don't touch my man!" Shen then ran over and slammed her hammer on the ground right next to Fiona. "This is your last warning you bitch. Go fuck around with your boyfriend and you won't have to be squashed into a pool of guts and blood."
-Fiona got up and glared at Amy. "You may have won the battle, but you haven't won the war!"
"Not yet at least," Amy snorted. She smirked as Fiona ran off and went to help Scourge fight Fleetway.
-Sonic struggled to get up, but once he was on his feet he ran over and grabbed Amy's shoulders. "You're awake!" He yelled in joy as he embraced Amy in a hug. "You have no idea how happy that makes me," He then pulled away and stared at her in confusion. "Why are you here? You'll reopen your wound if you're too careless."
"I'm fine!" She reassured. "And from what I see it's stitched up, so it shouldn't open that easily."
"Yeah, but it'll hurt more."
"Nah, I'm too tough for that!" She winked. Her hammer disappeared and she started walking. "The others that were with me are here now, so we can focus on destroying the death weapon and save the word! Come on!"
-Sonic hesitated before he followed in after her. He looked back at Fleetway who was still fighting back Scourge and Fiona, but he was prevailing at least, which Sonic was relieved to see. Stay standing, Fleetway. We're going all out now. He sighed and felt his heart racing. It's almost over. He was anxious to get the mission finished, and he didn't want anything to get in his way in saving everyone he's ever loved and cared about.
