My Caring Evil Twin

Chapter Twenty-one

-Sonic braced himself as Naugus wielded his staff. This staff didn't look like the one he had last time. The staff was black with a red jewel on the top, embraced with golden roots. What happened with his old one? He thought, but he realized it wasn't relevant.
"Mommy!" Alexis screamed as she ran behind Megan.
-Megan picked up Alexis and was rubbing her fingers through her hair. "Everything will be fine, dear!"
-Elias pulled out a sword from his belt and looked at Megan and Alexis. "Get into the safe room!" He shouted. "Sonic and I will take care of this."
-Megan looked like she had second thoughts before she ran out of the throne room with Alexis held tightly.
-Sonic stood side-by-side with Elias as he brought his sword close to his face. Sonic had managed to force a grin on his face despite of what happened. He looked at Elias and chuckled. "Just like old times, huh?"
-Elias' smirk grew rather big as he looked back at Sonic. "Just like old times!"
"Aw! How adorable!" Naugus interrupted. He then spat and glared at the two. "Don't act like you've got the upper hand here! I've got a new staff which contains Black Magic. I had to journey to the deep caverns to get this staff. Now I'll be able to eradicate you both!"
"Tell us the whole plan why don't ya," Sonic muttered and he heard Elias giggled.
"Don't get cocky!" Naugus warned as his eyes turned into fiery balls of rage. "I'll kill you first, Elias. I want to be king before I extract my revenge on Sonic."
"I'll be damned if I let you do that!" Sonic sneered. "You're not laying a hand on Elias! Do so and I'll bury you in the ground!" The anger Sonic had thought was from being protective over Elias wasn't from that at all. Sonic was angry about Amy; what Naugus had done to her. All he wanted to do was leave the palace and be there for her, but he couldn't abandon Elias and his family. So anger was fueling him, creating a big enough hatred to harm Naugus. No, not to harm him...to kill him. He wasn't going to let his hero side stop him from achieving this.
-Without waiting for Elias, Sonic charged at Naugus, curling up into a ball and used his homing attack on him. He didn't stop attacking him until Naugus lifted up his staff and a thick green string of aura made Sonic untuck himself and wrap himself around Sonic's arms, causing him to fall on his side. Naugus laughed out loud when Elias ran towards him. Both Elias and Naugus lifted up their weapons and striked at each other, both blocking from the other's attack. When Naugus managed to prevail and threw Elias back, he lifted his staff and released another string of aura and it wrapped itself around Elias' legs and tail.
"Neither one of you can beat me," Naugus boasted as he slammed the bottom tip of his staff on the ground. "I'm not as weak as I was before. I now have the upper hand here. Tell me, are you two ready to die?"
-Sonic growled as he forced his head off the floor. "You're not that smart!" He shouted. "All I need are my legs, not my arms!" He managed to get himself to stand up. "I can still smash you into bits!"
-But before Sonic could do anything Knuckles had come out of nowhere and tackled Naugus. Naugus had dropped his staff and Tails flew over and grabbed it in the air. When Naugus stood back up he was immediately knocked back down by Shadow and Silver, striking him from different directions. Tails was messing around with the staff when a blue string of aura shot out, split in two, and shot towards the green aura's wrapped around both Sonic and Elias. Sonic watched as the green strings disappeared and he then rolled his shoulders back.
-Naugus had stood back up and held out his hand towards them. "You may have my staff, but I can still use magic!" His hand glowed and everyone had jumped back and braced themselves.  He was about to release the energy was something quickly shot forward at Naugus and, in less than a heartbeat, blood spewed out of his right eye. He made an earsplitting shriek and covered his bleeding eye. "What have you done!?" He screamed. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" He collapsed onto the wall as he put more pressure on his eye.
-When Sonic looked to see who had done this he felt his own bloodlust turning into horror. He saw Fleetway standing there, examining the blood on his claws. His frown had turned into a smirk that frightened Sonic. Fleetway had enjoyed spilling someone else's blood. Fleetway turned and looked as Naugus was freaking out. 
-Everyone was silent, the scent of fear was filling the air. Sonic looked at Shadow and Tails and noticed that both of them stayed in front of everyone else. Sonic was about to step forward when Fleetway suddenly spoke.
"You're such a nuisance," He spoke in a deep, dark manner. "Someone as weak as you doesn't belong in this world."
-Naugus hand managed to sit up and he was looking around the room. "Who are you!? I can't see anything!" Even though he still had one eye, blood had flowed into it.
-Fleetway then laughed maniacally and flexed his claws. "Then you won't see me rid you from this world!"
-Fleetway ran forward and Sonic, feeling his hero side kick in, ran over and tackled Fleetway before he could get to Naugus. He used up all his strength to pin him down. "What are you doing!?"
-Fleetway had opened his eyes after the shock before he immediately glared at Sonic in anger. "I'm getting revenge!" He shouted. "He killed Amy! Don't you understand!? She's dead, Sonic!"
-Sonic felt his heart sink in his stomach, but he forced himself to keep a straight face as he kept Fleetway down. "You already got your revenge! Naugus is now blind in his good eye. There's nothing more you need to do!"
-Fleetway managed to kick Sonic off of him and his shoved him on the wall. He dug his claws into Sonic's arms and Sonic could feel his fiery rage. "Are you serious!? Did you not hear me when I said that Amy is dead!? How can you say something like that after she's been killed!?"
-Sonic forced himself to make eye contact with Fleetway and tried to be as calm as possible. "I don't believe...I can't believe it," Sonic whispered. "After everything we've been though, she couldn't have been killed like that."
-Fleetway slapped Sonic across the face and started growling. "You weren't there! I saw her lying there surrounded by her own blood!"
"Did you even check her pulse?" Sonic asked even though he knew he shouldn't have.
"I didn't need to!" Fleetway retorted. "She was not moving, Sonic! There was no sign of her breathing!" He then beat Sonic's chest, slowing down until he slammed his face into it. "Why do you have to be so stupid!?" He cried.
-Sonic had said nothing. He was too focused by everyone's expressions. Both Silver and Knuckles were staring in confusion while Tails had burst into tears and Shadow and Elias had bowed their heads respectfully. After a while Sally came running in with Nicole, Megan and Alexis. They stopped dead in their tracks when they saw the scenery.
-Sonic then sighed and wrapped his arms around Fleetway, but instead of Fleetway returning the hug he pulled back and glared at Sonic, his cheeks wet from tears. "Let...me...kill him," He pleaded. "He killed your mate. Why don't you feel the anger consuming you!?"
-Sonic had closed his eyes and turned his head away from him. "Amy wouldn't want that," Sonic said, his voice breaking. "You saw how she stopped me from Killing Nack, she doesn't want anyone killing for her. Just leave Naugus and Amy be..." He couldn't control himself anymore as tears of grief leaked from his eyes. He slammed the side of his head on the wall and hugged his chest tightly. I'm not okay! He mentally screamed. I'm not okay!!!
"Sonic, she's going to be fine," Tails had walked up and hugged Sonic. "I had Rouge go to her. She just contacted me and said Amy's going to be okay."
-Sonic continued to sob as he hugged Tails back. He gripped him too tightly as he started trembling. "Thank you, brother."
"Of course!" Tails pulled away from Sonic and let him dry his tears.

-Sonic was back home sitting close by as Rouge tended to Amy. Shadow, Silver, Tails, Knuckles, Sally, and Nicole were in deep conversation in the dining table. Fleetway was lying down on the couch with his back facing everyone. 
-Sonic sat there, praying for Amy to hurry and wake up. She was indeed alive, but Rouge had said that she might be in a short-term coma; a few weeks maybe. He just wanted to feel her embrace, the warm feeling she gave him. He wanted Amy lying in bed with him, chasing away all their worries and sorrows. As Rouge was wrapping bandages around Amy's leg, Sonic had listened to what the group was saying.
"Naugus can't be cured from his blindness in his right eye," Tails assured them. "Fleetway tore it out. He'll be relying on his left eye."
"Who even is Fleetway?" Silver asked.
"He looks like Sonic's form," Knuckles remarked. "Remember, Tails? We've seen him before, but he was Sonic."
"Fleetway is Sonic's secret twin," Tails explained. "But he wasn't born from Aleena, he was created out of thin air with Chaos Energy right when Sonic was born. He said that they're psychically connected with each other."
"When did he get here in time to save Elias?" Nicole asked.
"He's been here the whole time," Shadow cut in. "Up until yesterday he was hidden from everyone except for me and Sonic. Tails created something that made him visible to everyone."
"Why didn't Sonic saying?" Knuckles growled as he peeked at Sonic and back at the group. "Seems important to say that he had another brother who can defend himself."
"I'm sure he had his reasons," Sally silently commented. "I kind of get it."
"Well I don't!" Knuckles snorted. "It's like he didn't trust us!"
"He kept him a secret because he was led to believe that you would think he had mental issues!" Shadow retorted. "Someone like you should be able to understand."
"What is that supposed to mean!?" Knuckles shouted.
"Keep it down, Knuckles!" Rouge hissed. "I need to focus!" She turned back to Amy and grabbed a needle and thread as she moved Amy's dress upwards. It revealed an open wound in her stomach.
"Sonic also told us that Charles had told him not to tell anyone when they were kids," Tails pointed out. "Of course he would take that to heart."
-Knuckles then muttered something too quiet for Sonic to hear.
-Sonic felt a hand on his shoulder and looked at Fleetway. His eyes were narrow and his ears had drooped downward. "I don't want to hear any of this."
-Sonic looked down as Rouge was sewing up Amy's stomach, feeling guilt rise up in his own. I can't leave her.
"Please!" Fleetway pleaded. "I need a word with you. Alone!"
-Sonic sighed and stood up. All right, but not too long. He followed Fleetway out the door with his arms crossed in despair. Once there were outside Sonic leaned on the door and waited for Fleetway's disapproval.
"Why can't you let me do anything for you?" Fleetway sneered. "You never let me help!"
"Because you insist in bloodshed," Sonic replied in an emotionless manner. "Your way of help is villainy."
"But it's my will!" Fleetway retorted. "And it's not villainy if I'm doing it for your life and feelings."
"Do you remember me asking for you to kill someone?" Sonic questioned. Fleetway shook his head and crossed his arms. "Spilling blood isn't something I want, whether if it's for me or anyone else."
-Fleetway uncrossed his arms and glared at Sonic. "Why is it that I let you help me your way but I can't help you my way!? You said it yourself, 'I might not like your way of thinking and you don't like mine, but who are we to change each others thinking? It's how we get moving in life: our inner core.' How I think is how I help you. You never accept me when I accept you. Why? I'm not intentionally trying to hurt you."
-Sonic flattened his ears and looked at the ground. He shifted the weight if his feet and sighed. "I'm scared okay!"
"Scared of what?"
"I'm scared that you will enjoy it too much that...you'll leave me for the dark," Sonic muttered. "You always tell me to do bad things when something bad happens and it scares me. One day you'll snap and leave me."
-Fleetway then walked up and slapped Sonic across the face. "You...you idiot..." He began to sob. "We both promised Uncle Chuck that we'd stay and protect each other no matter what," He wiped his eyes before he continued. "I might not remember much when we were kids, but we both said that we wouldn't let anyone get past us no matter what. That's what I'm trying to do. I love and care about you, Sonic. You're my brother, and I'm still holding on to our promise."
-Sonic sniffed and hugged Fleetway tightly. "I love you, too. I'm sorry I made you feel this way. There's always something that I do that makes you suffer and I'm sick of it! I'm really sorry."
"Stop apologizing," Fleetway giggled. "You even said that families drive each other mad. As upset as I was back then, I'm not holding a grudge against you, nor will I ever will."
