-Sonic and Fleetway were walking around in the city. Fleetway had no idea why Sonic had brought him here, and Sonic didn't even know how to even start his task. He wanted Fleetway to meet other people and make connections so he could have more friends, or something more. But this would be difficult.
-They sat down on a bench by the park and looked around. Sonic saw a lot of mothers with their children, playing around the trees. Sonic smiled as he imagined one of them being Amy. He could see it clearly. Amy chasing after a little girl, stopping and taking a different direction until she cached her and both of them start giggling.
"Why are you smiling?" Fleetway poked Sonic's arm.
-Sonic dropped his smile and flattened his ears. "No reason."
"Why are we even here?"
-Sonic set his left leg over his right and started looking around again. "Uhh...you're going to meet new people."
"Huh!?" Fleetway whipped his head around and stared at Sonic with his eyes wide. "Why!? I already have you and the others."
"You're just sucking up to them," Sonic teased. "And that's not bad, but you should try to make some of your own."
"But I don't want to!" Fleetway whined. "No one else is as fun or adventurous as Shadow and the others."
"You don't know that," Sonic informed. "There are many people that are as hardcore as our friends. You just need to find them and get to know them."
-Fleetway snorted and looked away. "But why now? I'm still getting used to other people."
-Sonic giggled and sighed. "Right, cause after beating up those bad guys you're still not used to them."
"Shut up! You know what I mean," He then looked at Sonic, his eyes dull. "Plus, who would come and talk to me? I'm a freak just like all you guys, but you all have a good history that makes the people adore you. All they can tell from me is that I shed blood from others."
-Sonic shook his head and wrapped his arm around Fleetway. "That's why you talk to them so they'll know, or at least show them how cuddly you really are."
"Does this look like someone who is cuddly?" He pointed at his eyes. "When people look at my eyes they automatically see me as a psychopath."
"Now how do you know that?" Sonic questioned him.
"I've seen it every time I take over your body," Fleetway explained. "Knuckles and Tails used to see me like that."
"Exactly!" Sonic pointed out. "They used to. You can change other peoples' perspective."
"But I had you!" Fleetway wailed. "Knuckles and Tails only changed their perspective because you convinced them. And I don't suppose you're standing by my side when I meet these new friends are you?"
"If you want me by your side to make you more comfortable," Sonic reassured. "That's what brothers do after all."
-Fleetway's eyes softened and he sighed while he relaxed on the bench. "Okay. Whatever it takes for you to stop bothering me about it."
"I might have to get you a phone, too."
"Why? You can contact me through your thoughts."
"Yeah, but can you?" Sonic teased again.
-Fleetway groaned and rolled his eyes. "Fine, but only if you can afford it."
"Great!" Sonic stood up from the bench and started stretching his arms. "Let's just walk around the city. We might even have to stop at stores for certain things."
"'Kay," Fleetway waited until Sonic started walking and followed him.-Sonic handed Fleetway his new phone as they walked out the store. Sonic had thought Fleetway would at least try doing things on it, but Fleetway just held it down his side as if he wasn't amused by it. You don't want to see what it can do? He asked as he turned and looked at him.
-Fleetway shook his head and crossed his arms, keeping the phone in a tight grip. "When we get home. I wanna know what you're trying to do."
"Uh...okay then..." Sonic turned to face the front and he slammed his head against a pole. "Ow!" He pulled away and placed his hand on his face. "God damn!"
-Fleetway then started laughing out loud as Sonic started rubbing his face. "That's why you pay attention! You idiot!" He then frowned and hid behind Sonic when people started gathering around, watching them.
-Sonic then put his arm out in front of Fleetway protectively as the people's expressions grew into concern and suspicion. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. He gulped and started pulling Fleetway back as he started walking away. Let's do a rain check.
"Why are you nervous all of a sudden?" Fleetway whispered. "You're the one who dragged me out here."
-Sonic peeked behind him at the people to make sure if they were still staring at them or not and looked back in front of him. I don't know. Them staring at you just doesn't feel right.
"That's what I was worried about," Fleetway mumbled. "Can we forget about coming back at least? Your friends are more than good enough."
-Sonic sighed and nodded. "It's your decision I guess," Sonic then stopped and looked at a nearby gas station. "Let's get a few things at least."
"Sure."
-They turned and walked towards the gas station. When they entered they only saw a few people, which indicated that it wasn't very busy. Sonic tugged Fleetway's glove and pointed around the snack aisle. Fleetway hesitated before he walked into it and looked around. Sonic had walked over to the cold drinks area and searched the rows.
-He jumped when Fleetway placed his hand on his shoulder. Sonic then narrowed his eyes and snorted as Fleetway started laughing. "Very funny! Hurry up and pick a drink!"
"Fine," Fleetway looked around and went to grab a random bottle and shook it at Sonic.
-Sonic gave Fleetway a skeptical look before he crossed his arms. "Is that want you really want?" He pestered. "Or are you just trying to satisfy me?"
-Fleetway examined the bottle before he put it back and grabbed a different one. "It's like you can actually read my mind as well!" He giggled.
-After Sonic grabbed the drink from Fleetway they went to the counter where the cashier put on a fake smile and asked how there day had been. Sonic noticed Fleetway walk away and looked over to see what he was doing. Fleetway was just looking around at the magazines, like he used to before everyone could see him. When he was done he turned around and slammed into this woman that had come around the corner and both of them fell backwards.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!" The lady stood up and grabbed her things that she dropped before she looked at Fleetway. "Are you okay?"
-Fleetway shook his head from the shock and looked at the girl staring into his eyes. "Ah!" Was all he said before he stood up and fled and hid behind Sonic. He was shaking and his ears were flattened.
-Sonic smirked and looked as the girl walked towards them. She was a beautiful lilac colored raccoon with a darker shade as stripes. Her hair was the same lilac color and she wore low, short pigtails. She was wearing a professional looking outfit with matching shoes. She had a light blue hand bag hanging from her shoulder and she had worn make up. She bowed her head at them as though she was embarrassed. "Please forgive me. I wasn't paying any attention."
-Sonic looked back at Fleetway and started nudging him. "Come on, Fleetway. What's so terrifying about her? You've battled a powerful wizard and the entire Destructix by yourself!" He then winked walked behind him, putting his hands on Fleetway's shoulders to prevent him from moving away. "Well? Go on."
"I hate you," Fleetway mumbled. He then brought himself to look at the girl as his face flushed. He cleared his throat and looked the other direction. "You're fine. I wasn't aware that you were coming is all."
-The girl smiled and moved her loose hair back. "Again I'm really sorry. I'm not usually so unaware. I hope you're not hurt."
-Fleetway reluctantly looked at her and started scratching his face. "Yeah--uh...I'm fine...I've been through worse."
"That's good to hear!" The girl tilted her head to the side and leaned forward to Fleetway. "I'm Maggie by the way. Maggie Lewis!"
"Fleetway the Hedgehog," He muttered back. "We...don't really have a last name."
"We're referred to as the 'Hedgehog Family,' which is weird since there's like a million hedgehogs on Mobius," Sonic pointed out as he paid the cashier and grabbed their items. As he started walking he nudged Fleetway's shoulder with his own and motioned his head to the door. "Say bye 'cause we need to leave."
-Fleetway flattened his ears and looked shyly at Maggie. "Uhh...bye..."
"All right then. Let's hope we see each other again soon!" She made a huge grin and held out her hand to him as Fleetway shook hands with her.
-Fleetway then rushed over to Sonic's side when he realized he started walking. They left the gas station and Fleetway kept his head down. "What was that?"
-Sonic chuckled and slapped his hand on Fleetway's back. "I'd think you would know since you were always telling me to ask Amy out."
-Fleetway's face turned red and he glared at Sonic. "It wasn't that at all!" He retorted. "It was only one encounter. What are the chances I see her again?"
-Sonic rolled his eyes and sighed. "You're right," He agreed. "But Maggie seemed like a nice girl."
"We don't even know how old she is," Fleetway pointed out. "Isn't there a law against dating someone under eighteen? We don't know if she's a young intern or not and we're like what...twenty-eight?"
"This summer we will be," Sonic nodded. "And when did you get so smart all of a sudden?" He then laughed when he saw Fleetway's annoyed expression.
"I do pay attention to some things you're talking about," He then lightly punched Sonic's shoulder and crossed his arms.
"In any case, if you were to see her again, even if she's too young or not, you can still be friends, and one you made yourself."
"Whatever!" Fleetway snorted.
