*Arizona*
It was my first day at work here at SGMW and although I haven't made many friends, I can tell this is a nice environment with good people.
With my 9 year old daughter Ava, I parked into her school parking lot and walked her in.
"Mommy, I don't know anyone here." She says with sad eyes.
"I don't know anyone in the hospital babygirl, but I promise you'll make friends."
"Can I come to work with you tomorrow?"
"Of course." I say giving her a kiss on her head.
I got paged by our Chief and headed back into the parking lot.
at the hospital.
"Yes Chief?" I say not noticing the woman she was in conversation with.
"Yes, I was just talking about you, this is your tour guide Callie, she will show you around and get you used to the crazy battlefield we call Seattle Grace ." She was talking but I was mainly focused on the gorgeous woman standing next to her.
She had wavy raven colored hair and a perfect body.
"Callie Torres, nice to meet you." She holds out her hand for me to shake it.
"Arizona Robbins, the pleasure is mine." I shake her hand but don't let go just yet but not long enough until it becomes awkward.
"I will leave you two ladies to it." Bailey says, mentioning for us to leave.
She walked out in front of me and I couldn't help but look at her posture and how she walked liked she owned the place.
"Are you new to Seattle?" She asks.
"I've been here a few times as a child but never long enough to get the area."
"I've been here for awhile, I'm an orthopedic surgeon, the best orthopedic surgeon they have here at that."
"You need to have a lot of pride in your job, I work in peds, I help tiny humans and I absolutely love it."
She nods and shows me around the cafeteria. A group of people wave to her and she grabs my arm and pulls me over to them.
"Callie, who's this?" One of the men in scrubs asks.
"This is Arizona, she's new and she works in pediatrics, Arizona this is Mark, Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Lexie, and April." She points them out one by one as if I could remember all of their names.
"It's nice to meet you all." I say.
"On call room after surgery Callie?" Mark asks smirking, the rest of them all start snickering.
"I'm busy." She replies before walking off and taking me with her.
"What was that all about the on call room thing? Are you and him a thing or something? You guys would be cute and have nice babies." I might've said too much.
"No, to make it short the on call room is a place where people go to have sex."
"Oh."
"Yea, it's not really what they are for, but some people just can't help themselves." Her mood changed completely.
Then my pager went off. "I have to go Callie, hopefully we can meet up again and finish up our tour, we still have some more to cover."
"I don't think that will be necessary, this is a huge hospital with lots of people, you will find your way." With that she walked away into the crowd of doctors.
What the hell was that about? I brushed it off and continued to do what I came here for, to work.
On the way to the peds floor, I ran into April on the elevator.
"Hey! Aren't you Arizona?" She asks in a cheerful tone.
"Yea we met at lunch."
"Where's your tour guide?" This was an unusually long elevator ride.
"She got mad over something and basically left me to search the hospital myself." I blurt out right Callie and Mark enter the elevator.
"6 please." Mark says and I press the button.
"We haven't moved in 5 minutes." I state.
"That's only 5 minutes." Callie shots back.
"Most elevator rides are 5 seconds." I reply.
"Well obviously you haven't rode an elevator here." Callie says before pushing the emergency button.
It would take a lot to cut through Callie's core. Why was she being so rude to me? What did I do? Was it about the Mark thing? All these questions flooded my head before I realized the elevator had opened to the peds floor, I quickly stepped out and turned the corner.
If I saw Callie again it would be too soon.
