*Arizona*
After last night thing with Callie and I have been a little awkward but I didn't think too hard about it.
*at the hospital*
Callie's surgery went well and she successfully amputated the little girls leg. Having to tell that to her parents was very interesting because for some reason it didn't come across to them that it was either her leg or her life.
"I just don't get it." The mom says running her fingers through her hair.
"The injuries to her leg were very severe." I repeated for about the fourth time.
"You've already said that." She snapped but I remained calm.
"Where are the other boys?" The father asks.
"They don't know that we had to amputate yet Sir." I see Callie coming towards me in the distance.
"Doctor Torres is here to answer any questions if you need them." I slowly stepped back.
"Why did you take our daughters leg?" The mother says.
"Because, the injuries to her leg were very intense and if I would've removed the piece of the bike that was lodged into her leg, there would be a very high chance that she would be paralyzed. So I made the call as a surgeon to amputate the leg so that she was still walk with a few months of physical therapy." Callie explained.
It took the parents awhile to finally realize we made the right call.
"Thank you doctors, when can we see her?"
"She's in room C31, be calm with her." Callie states and they walk off to the elevator.
I was in love with Callie. I know that I am and I'm not going to deny those feelings. She's an amazing doctor and an amazing person overall.
"Arizona we need to talk, but not here." She takes my hand in hers.
This was the third time in about a week where we have "talked". We walked for awhile and at first I thought we were going into an on call room or something but we were actually going to the park nearby the hospital.
We walked up a hill and found a park bench.
"What is it Callie?" I sat her down on the bench.
"I need to focus on my work."
"Ok and?" I say.
"I need you to not get in the way of my work." She was mainly talking with her hands.
"How am I supposed to do that?"
"By letting me do what I think is right, and this may come as a shock to you but I don't like to talk while I'm working." She was coming off more and more harsh.
"I'll back off a little, damn."
"No I need you to back off completely, Arizona I can't have anymore mistakes. I told myself I wouldn't let relationships get in the way of my work and that I would never get into a
relationship while-" I cut her off."I think you've said enough, I get the idea Doctor Torres." I say before getting off the bench and walking down the hill and into the sidewalk.
What have I just done? I love Callie and I want a relationship with her but I don't know how to tell her. We seemed fine yesterday but what happened?
Yesterday was how I want all my bad days to end, I felt like I could be myself without anyone judging me.
Going back to the hospital was not easy because Derek, Meredith, and Mark were all looking for Callie. Something had happened to Sofia.
