Today was it, it was the day that could it couldn't change our friendship for forever.
No, that sounds really over dramatic.
It just so happened to be the anniversary of the event, but I wasn't going to let that
hold me back. I've spent years not getting out of bed this one particular day in fear that he would come back to get me.But not today.
We all had the day off of work today except for like Mark and Jackson so it wasn't like we had to get up early.
Unless, you have kids, that have to be at school by 8:30.
I didn't want to wake Callie up so I got up, made coffee, and made the girls lunch.
It didn't hit me until now but Callie has been through a lot in this past month. Me picking fights didn't really help either.
Abigail came and that was interesting, now she's gone and sending Callie threats. On top of everything she's been working day and night with and without her boot on. The ortho goddess broke her leg but she didn't let that stop her.
Callie has done nothing but care for me and today I'm slowing going to make it up to her.
Starting off with breakfast in bed.
I made her favorite style omelette, bacon, sausage, toast, and fruit.
The girls were eating their food at the table and I was now bringing Callie hers.
She was asleep but I didn't want her food to get cold so I woke her up.
"What's all of this?" She says rubbing her eyes and sitting up.
"Breakfast in bed."
"The girls, I have to take them to school I-" She began to get up but I stopped her.
"I'm taking them today, now you relax and eat. I'll be back in no time." I gave her a kiss and get back to my girls who were putting their plates up.
"Is Mama still asleep?" Sofia asks.
I nodded and got my keys.
I wanted to give Callie some peace and quiet because she really needs it right now.
20 minutes later
The girls were dropped off and now I was on the way back home.
I stopped by a florist and picked up a small early Valentine's Day gift for Callie.
When I got back to the house Callie was on the back porch drinking coffee.
She looks so peaceful I almost didn't disturb her.
Quietly sliding the door open, I wrapped my arms around her and lay my chin on her shoulder.
God, she smells amazing.
"What's with the breakfast in bed and the flowers?" Her voice was soft.
"I wanted to do something special for you."
"Today?" She questions.
I took the seat next to her and held her hand.
"Years and years ago this was the one day I never wanted to face. I was scared that he would find me again and maybe even take Ava. But this year is different, you know why it's different?" I paused.
"Because I have you Calliope, you make me feel so protected and I don't get scared of this day anymore because you're here with me and that's all I need, this family is reason I'm still fighting."
