"Come on!" I yelled back at Zac as I ran up the cement steps to Rockefeller center, my high heels clicking on the pavement. Zac was several paces behind me, admiring the enthusiasm I had for going to look at a Christmas tree at 3 in the morning. He met me at the top of stairs where I rewarded him with a kiss. My ice-cold nose brushed up against his.
"Baby, you're cold, let's go back to the hotel. We can crawl into that big, warm bed," he teased me, his hands rested gently on my hips.
"We can...after we see the tree!" I said as I grabbed his hand, pulling him towards the tree. The temperature had dropped at least 20 degrees since we had left on our date and the wind was picking up. Neither of us had bothered to grab a winter coat. "Just a little further, I promise," I reassured.
He was shivering but my utter excitement on this quest was enough for him to keep going. I traded places with him, walking behind him and covering his eyes with my hands.
"Woman, you're crazy."
"Not yet," I said as I guided his steps forward. He could feel my warm breath on the back of his neck, which was quickly replaced with a bone-chilling feeling as the cold breeze blew around is. I stood in place, pausing for a few seconds.
"Ok, now!" I said, revealing the stunning tree. He admired the tree for long enough to satisfy me, before turning to kiss me. "Do you like it?" I asked.
"I love it. But not as much as I love you," he said as he brought me in for another kiss, wrapping his arms tightly around me. I wrapped mine lightly around his neck and my foot popped up behind me – the perfect fairytale kiss with the most stunning winter backdrop. "Can I ask you something?" he said, briefly separating from my lips.
"Fine, fine, we can go," I teased him.
"No, that's not it. For Christmas, will you come home with me to my parent's?" I paused, looking at him, somewhat confused. "I know you came for Thanksgiving, but it was different. Going home for the holidays, Christmas especially – as boyfriend and girlfriend - it's an important step in a relationship. I want you to take it with me." I sighed, holding both of his hands with mine. "I understand if you don't want to," he rushed out, before I could say anything.
"Zac," I started, staring into his gorgeous blue eyes. "Every day I think that there is no way I can love you more, and then the next day, you go and do something to prove me wrong. Of course, I will come home with you for Christmas."
"I love you," he said as he kissed me deeply before twisting and dipping me down. He gently and slowly lifted me back up and kissed me softly. Tears were welling up in his eyes and I could feel light drops of water on my cheeks. I looked upwards to the sky.
"It's snowing," I smiled. "This is just too perfect," I said as the flakes falling got larger. I spun around with my arms stretched out, staring towards the heavens. "You can only have magic moments like this at Christmas time in New York." He grabbed me again, this time holding his face close to mine. I could feel his eyelashes, wet with tears, flutter against my cheek.
