"Babe, I'm not rushing, I promise, but can I get an ETA please?" I said carefully as I peeked my head inside the bathroom. She was standing at the vanity, arched up on her tiptoes, applying makeup in the mirror. I leaned against the doorframe and crossed my arms as she quickly brushed some sort of powder over her face.
"Ready," she replied as she set a brush and compact down on the counter and turned around to look at me.
"Wow," I managed to get out. "You look amazing."
"You clean up pretty nice yourself."
A smile spread across her face as she approached me, gently gripping my hips in her hands and pressing me against the door frame. She brushed her nose back and forth over mine and her gorgeous eyes stared into mine.
"Kiss me," I whispered and she granted my wish. "Ready?"
"Ready," she confirmed. We made our way back to the living area of the cottage and she slipped into sandals and grabbed a Chanel clutch.
"Breaking out the Chanel, eh?" I smirked at her.
"It was my grandma's. She had incredible taste. It's classic and timeless, just like she was."
"Hmm...it must run in the family then," I replied, kissing her one last time while I brushed her hair back off her shoulders. I couldn't help but smile wide as I bent down to kiss her.
"What?" she smirked.
"It's so weird, going out and you're not in heels. I like this island vibe you have."
"Me too. I can get used to this."
We held hands as we walked back towards the main resort where there was a sushi restaurant with seating available along the ocean.
"Good evening! Do you have a reservation?" a hostess greeted us warmly.
"We don't actually. Is there any chance you have a table by the water available without one?" I asked and I could tell the hostess recognized us and was nervous as she scanned her wait list.
"We don't mind waiting, since we don't have reservations," Jess interjected, picking up on the girl's angst.
"Oh! That would be great. There are a few parties ahead of you, but I should have one available soon. Feel free to grab a drink in the bar in the meantime."
"Sounds good to me. Thank you! Is that ok with you?" she turned ask me.
"Yeah, that sounds great. Thank you!"
"Can I get a name please?"
"Stillwater," I replied with a wink.
"Alright. You are all set. I'll come and get you as soon as a table opens up."
Jess and I made our way to the open-air bar, which had a fairly decent amount of people in it, and found an available table.
We settled into the oversized chairs and perused the cocktail menu.
"What are you thinking little lady?" I asked, reaching across the table and squeezing her ankle.
"Hmm...I'm thinking...cucumber margarita," she said decisively as she snapped the cocktail menu shut. "What about you?"
I chuckled softly as I replied, "I was thinking a regular margarita."
"Well, at least we're consistent," she laughed as my phone started ringing.
I groaned, having forgotten to turn it off. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the caller ID.
"I'm sorry, I really have to take this call," I nervously replied.
