While the rest of the world made their way home from fabulous New Year's Eve parties, Zac and I gathered our luggage and headed off on our first of many adventures together.
We arrived at LAX to a swarm of paparazzi, eager to catch a glimpse of celebrities departing for, or returning from, holiday vacations. While it was still unnerving to be photographed together, now that our relationship was "out," it was less stressful. We could only hope they wouldn't catch wind of where we were going and we'd be able to enjoy our privacy in paradise.
We were pre-boarded onto the plane and a flight attendant brought us champagne as we settled into our seats.
"Are you going to at least tell me where we are staying?" I asked as Zac put his backpack in the overhead bin.
"No," he smirked as he handed me an iPad and earbuds.
"Not even a hint?" I pouted.
"Just trust me, I did my research," he said with a wink as he tossed me a movie theater box of candy.
I couldn't help but smile at him. He literally did think of everything - right down to the smallest detail, like how hard it was for me to sleep on planes, no matter how tired I was.
"Candy for breakfast?" I asked, raising my eyebrows, even though I certainly had no objections to this idea.
"Eh, we're on vacation, he said as he shrugged his shoulders and sat down next to me.
"What are we watching?" I questioned, unlocking the iPad.
"Ted," he smiled.
"You waited to watch it?"
"I promised you I would," he replied before planting a soft kiss on my forehead as other passengers began boarding the plane.
"I love you," I reminded him, kissing his lips softly, not caring who could see us.
"I love you too. There's nowhere else I'd rather be headed, and no one else I'd rather be with."
"Same, baby," I confirmed, opening the candy. Zac plugged the ear buds in and handed me one, taking the other for himself. "So, what do you have planned for us while we're there?"
"I told you, no hints. We'll be there in 5 hours. Patience, please," he teased.
"Fine," I sighed. "I'm just really excited," I laughed.
"I know," he said sarcastically. "You will not be disappointed. Tru..."
"Trust you, I know," I playfully squeezed his knee.
Zac pressed play on the movie and we settled in for the flight. While he was a good sport in trying to stay awake, he quickly dozed off. I paused the movie, extending him the same courtesy of waiting to watch the movie together, before closing the iPad cover and turning my attention to the in-flight movies until we landed.
