I had made a habit of my day time routine. Each day, I'd wake up and take the same walk to the diner for my breakfast. Today was no different.

Another drunken night had proved that I needed to finally get going back home. I was getting rather bored of the same routine and anyway, I needed to get things rolling again with the new album. My band has been waiting patiently this whole time. Although, I know they're not in a hurry. They love spending time with their families over working in the studio all day, every day.

It was a really damp morning, after having been a stormy night. I put on my hat and sunglasses, like I always did when I walked around. There were several instances already, where I was stopped in the street by adoring fans. I didn't mind much, but I hated when they'd ask for pictures because I wasn't looking too done up these days. Especially after spending all night on a bender.

Luckily, it wasn't that nice out. So I had a bit of confidence in thinking I wouldn't be spotted today. I finally made it to the diner and took a seat at the counter. I had become rather well acquainted with the waitress from the first day here. Her name was Hannah and after her star struck feeling subsided, the two of us starting enjoying each other's company. I'd started sitting up at the counter so we could chat during my breakfast.

"Afternoon, Freddie! Have a seat I'll be right with you!" She waved at me and disappeared behind the kitchen door.

I was the only one sitting on the counter stools today. The place was mostly empty, which I was happy about since Hannah had just yelled out my name loud enough for everyone to hear. The only people here were a few older couples and some families. I frowned as I looked around at how content they all were. Something I'd never find. Or better yet, something I'd already found, but would never have to keep.

"What'll it be, Fred?," Hannah took out her notepad, ready to write down my order.

"Just some tea and toast today, love," I suddenly wasn't feeling too hungry. She nodded and walked away and I felt someone tugging at my jacket.

"Mister..is this..is that YOU?!," a tiny squeak of a voice came from behind me. I swiveled around in the stool, looked down, and seen a little girl about knee high, waving a magazine at me.

"Hello, dear. What have you got there?," I smiled down at her, reaching for the magazine in question. She was a cute little thing, all dressed up with pink ruffles and a big bow on top her head. I would definitely have dressed my daughter the same way. Like a princess.

Before I let my thoughts go further, I unrolled the magazine- and I almost had a heart attack!

There was a big picture of me on the cover. The headline read: 'Mercury's mystery lover, finds a new man'

Right below it, was a strip of photographs. Cherie next to a smirking Jimmy in a car. Another of Jimmy with his hand on her cheek! The third, was a picture of Cherie with her head in Jimmy's lap!

I felt myself seething with rage, the paper in my hands crinkled in my grip. So, she's a liar!

"We're sorry for disturbing you, Mr. Mercury! Come along now honey..," the girls mother was gently but quickly pushing her back towards the table, a result from seeing the anger distortion of my expression, I'm sure. I simply mumbled a little response to let her know she was no bother.

I turned around when I'd heard Hannah placing my tea and toast down on the counter. I took one sip and a couple bites and put some money down and left. Walking down the street I hid the magazine beneath my arm as I power walked my way back to the hotel. I felt like I was rushing against the clock. At any moment now, I'd have another breakdown and I really didn't want to do it in the street!
