"Where you headed dressed like that girl?" my mom asks me. "Who painted them pants on you?"
"Aww ma, I'm just going up the street to a barbeque," I reply. "I can't help it if I got all this ass from you."
My mom couldn't help but laugh. I was the spitting image of her. Same skin tone, same freckled face, same greenish eye color. The only difference was that she was maybe two sizes bigger than me and a couple of inches taller while I stood at 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighed in at about 135. She said I looked so much like her when I was born that she had to name me something similar to her name; so to keep it cute and unique, she named me Victorie.
"Before you start fussing, just know that I'm taking Zuri with me," I said.
"No you're not! Have you lost your mind?! You can't take that baby around all them niggas. You know how they get when they're drunk and high. There's no telling what might pop off!" she yelled. "Leave her here!"
"Well I don't have any money to pay you ma," I let her know.
"That's ok; just don't be out all day and night," she said. "Y'all just don't know how much I worry about y'all. Why do you think I rarely let Joy go anywhere?"
Joy is my sixteen year old little sister. Mama is so overprotective of her that I'm not sure if she's hurting her or helping her. Joy's at that age where she's no longer a little baby and wants to do things. And we know that teenagers find a way to do whatever they want.
"Ma don't you think maybe you should loosen the reigns on Joy just a lil bit?" I asked her. "She's not a lil bitty baby anymore."
"I refuse to let the streets take my baby, so hell no!" she said. " I was the same way with you, and you turned out pretty good."
Yeah ma; pretty good which is why at 16 I was lying and sneaking out to have sex with an older man that you knew nothing about until I got knocked up. I would never say those things to her, but it was the truth.
Thankfully at that moment my best friend CeCe texted me letting me know that she was outside.
"Well Miss Victoria, I gotta slide," I told my mom. " I won't be too long."
"Ok Miss Victorie," she responded. "Be careful baby." She then kissed me on the forehead before I headed out.

"Bitch it's hotter than a mothafucka out here!" my ghetto bestie CeCe said.
"Hey to you too tramp," I said. "I know your pussy has got to be hurting in them lil ass shorts. Are those Tashyra's?"
Tashyra is CeCe's three year old daughter.
"Girl, I look good, and yes this pussy is hurting but not from these shorts." CeCe laughed. "But you wouldn't know nothing about that. Do you even remember what sex feels like? I know you got some cobwebs down there."
"Whatever nasty heifer!" I laughed. "I got responsibilities, and I ain't stuttin' no nigga."
"Don't you think it's about time you put yourself back out there?" she asked. "You haven't had a man since Ramirez with his trifflin ass."
"I'm just trying to work, take care of my baby, and hopefully make out the hood one day. Nothing else," I said. "Plus I'm not interested in anybody around here."
"Well what about my cousin Jaison?" CeCe asked while smiling. "You know he's been sweet on you for the longest. He's probably got a woody in his sweats now just from looking at you."
"Girl please, Jaison is a street dude. You know I don't do street dudes."

We'd finally made it to the next block, and there was Jaison posted up. I must admit that the nigga was fine as shit. 6 feet tall, caramel skin complexion, could dress, and was getting money, but I just couldn't allow myself to get caught up with his type. I'd hate to fall in love and have the streets take it away from me.
"What's up CeCe?! Hey Torie!" Jaison spoke as he made his way to us. "Glad y'all could come to my lil birthday kickback."
"You know I wouldn't miss it for the world," CeCe said. "But say birthday boy, how come I ain't heard you and my girl's song on the radio? It's been  months."
"You know I had to leave town for a lil bit and handle some business, but I took it up there soon as I got back," he replied. "It's gone pop off; just be cool. You act like you featured on it."
"I just know that it's gone be hot," she said. "I'm ready to shake my ass to it."
"It ain't even that type of song thot," I laughed rolling my eyes.
Jaison just shook his head. "Well Torie, the food is almost done. Y'all want something to drink while y'all wait? I'll get it for you," he said.
"I'll just take a coke," I said.
"I'll take some of that Henny I see over there," CeCe said.
"Ok; I'll be right back." Jaison then left to get our drinks.
"I'll get it for you," CeCe mocked soon as he walked away. "That nigga wants to hump on you something bad sis. I'm his cousin, and he ain't never this nice to me when I'm by myself."
"Whatever nasty," I laugh. "You probably get on his nerves because you damn sure works mine."
CeCe rolled her eyes.

The DJ started playing City Girls "Twerk" and CeCe started dancing like she was in the strip club. Jaison returned with our drinks and shook his head. "Thanks," I smiled when he handed me my cup. I took a sip, and it definitely wasn't just Coke.
"It's just a lil Henny," Jaison leaned over and whispered in my ear. "I just want you to loosen up and have a good time pretty girl. I know you worry about being safe out here, but this is my block. You good out here."
For some reason, hearing him say that put me at ease. I put my cup up to my lips and enjoyed my drink.
"Jay, what the fuck is this?!" CeCe hollered. "This is iced tea not Henny!"
"I figured you was turnt up enough and didn't need it," Jaison said. "I'll give you some after you eat." He walked off laughing.
"I don't know why he treats me like I'm a lil chap," CeCe fussed. "Nigga only four years older than us."
I couldn't help but to laugh at my crazy ass bestie.
