Part 22

Zarah

"Tell me I'm mistaken" i heard Jabir's voice asking me when I dropped the warmer on the dining table

"What?" I asked him clueless and just stormed back to the kitchen to bring the remaining things out

We sat down and finished eating quietly without anyone bringing anything up,

Mama was having alot to do and since i have nothing doing today i took over the kitchen duty,

I was on the counter cutting the vegetables when i felt a presence I didn't even bother to turn because i know who it is

"What do you want" i asked him while i was dicing the onions because he stood there starring and it was making me so uncomfortable

"You're dating the lecturer?" He asked

My heart bounced a little and i was wondering how he knew, I didn't want to show him i was scared so i just said "and?"

"Answer me" he said coming closer

"What do you want me to say" i asked him rinsing my hands off picking a pot from the cupboard

I was about to walk past him to place the pot on the burner when he held my hand

"Answer me I'm asking you a question" he said angrily

I loosened my hand from his grip and looked at him,

Anger was just building up in me, the anger of what is his concern with who I'm dating and the one i hid so well for a very long time,

"And so what if he's the one I'm dating?" I snapped at him

"So he's the one" he said quietly and looked at me then he left

I continued cooking as i played music on my phone,

I made potato porridge with peppered chicken,

I was so into cooking today that I totally forgot what happened between me and Jabir earlier.

I finished arranging the table, then I decided to watch in the general parlor before everyone comes to eat.

After lunch i went to do the dishes.

"Mama you're starting exams next week koh?" Daddy asked when i took his herbal tea upstairs

"Eh" I replied him

Jabir was starring at me and I couldn't help but eye him and sit down close to daddy,

We talked for some time before he and Jabir decided to go out so i went down to watch a little bit before I prepare dinner.

Jabir

"Baba ,Alhaji Ahmad Muaz is our business partner for some years now koh" i asked my uncle

"Eh" he replied

"What's wrong" he asked me

"Noo, nothing i just realized Zarah's lecturer that came for her birthday the other day is his son" i said to him

"Wow so he's the first son he always talked about " baba said

I just replied uhum and I honked at the gate,

I parked the car and we went in for dinner

I had to search heaven and earth to find most of the things about him and to my surprise it actually looks like he is playing little Zarah but she had no idea

Zarah

"Ahh Mama na wannan girki haka" daddy said shoving another spoonful of rice into his mouth

I smiled and continued eating

"Wannan zobo haka" he said again

"Daddy" i said giving him the eat and stop looking eye

"Ashe i even know that your lecturers dad" daddy said and my heart jumped almost bouncing off my chest because I taught Jabir told him something ne

"Ohh I didn't know" i said trying to get rid of the topic

"Poor boy, he lost his wife and unborn child few years back in a plane crash wlhy" daddy said

"Ohhh Alhaji Ahmad Muaz son??" Mum asked looking so surprised

Dad just nodded his head

"I heard they never marry someone outside their family" Jabir added to the conversation

I was so shocked and surprised, i think i was even angry I don't know because I've been dating him for how long now and he never told me about that,

Not the fact that they marry only in the family ne but the fact that he had a pregnant wife that died and throughout all this time he didn't even mention it in any conversation.

"Allah sarki" i said picking my empty plate to drop in the kitchen

"Har kin koshi?" Mama asked as if she knows what was going on in my head

I just nodded my head and left

He called me almost 5 times that night but I ignored him because I need time to get over myself
