They made it to the bridge without delay, lights flashing yellow alert. All Alex wanted to do was sleep, but it appeared that would have to wait. If only she could have grabbed a cup of coffee...
"I can't wait for you to see the view! Space travel at its finest," Jim exclaimed as the door opened to the bridge. The crew turned their heads as the captain came on board.
"Status report Mr. Sulu," he ordered as Spock went to his post. Alex lingered behind her brother.
"A ship appeared onscreen. One that isn't in Starfleet's data base," Sulu explained as the captain gawked.
"Alien?"
"It appears so captain. It came out of warp speed and hasn't left its location and has not tried to contact us," Sulu said. Spock walked closer to the captain.
"Open all channels. Uhura, we may need your help if they don't speak like us," Kirk ordered.
"Aye captain. Channels open," Uhura responded.
"This is Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise. We come in peace. Do you need assistance?" Kirk stated. A few moments passed.
"Nothing sir," Uhura said as the captain turned to her. Suddenly, the bridge began to shake as weapons were fired on the ship, sending the crew rolling on the floor. Alex fell and somehow ended up falling into Spock as Jim hung onto his captain's chair.
"Shields up red alert!" he yelled.
"Acknowledged captain," Sulu said as he struggled into his chair for the controls. Alex tried not to blush as Spock helped her up. Jim glanced at the two as Spock had let his hands fall from assisting Alex. Spock looked from her to the captain.
"Is everyone alright?" Kirk asked. Alex nodded her head.
"Damage done to engineering captain," Uhura announced as he turned to her.
"I better go help Dr. McCoy," Alex started to say as a humming sound was heard on the bridge. Spock grabbed her arm as a flash of light blinded everyone. Alex didn't dare open her eyes.
"Captain," Spock began, but another light appeared around the first officer. Alex squinted and saw it was heading toward her brother. She then leaped and pushed her brother aside while saying his name as the light consumed her and Spock. A moment later, Alex felt herself being beamed away to another location.
The captain opened his eyes as the light faded, and saw his sister and Spock were no longer there. He swore.
