Kirk, unsettled by his thoughts, abandoned his plan of calling Spock to the bridge, and headed to his sister's quarters. Bones followed him.
"Are you nuts Jim? Just call him to the bridge," the doctor protested. The captain spun around to face the doctor.
"If you were a brother you would understand Bones. I mean, what if that mind meld somehow connected them in a way?" Jim pointed out.
"I'm afraid our only mind meld expert is otherwise occupied at the moment," he spat back. Jim sighed.
"I can't believe she got assigned to this ship. Why couldn't it have been any other one?" Jim said exasperated.
"Perhaps Starfleet thought two Kirk's and a Vulcan would make one hell of a ship," Bones grinned.
"That it does Bones, that it does."
Kirk followed by Bones went to Alex's quarters. He pressed a control on the panel by the door.
"Alex, I need to talk to you."

Spock heard his captain's voice as he stopped kissing Alex. Alex's eyes became fearful.
"Spock, what are we going to do?" Spock sat up on the bed.
"I will... talk to him. He is my captain and friend," Spock said. Alex nodded her head as she held up the blanket to cover herself. Spock turned away, straightened up his uniform, and walked toward the door.
Kirk was still surprised to see Spock answer his sister's door.
"I'm sure you have a professional reason for answering my sister's door," Kirk said.
"Alex wanted to know more about Vulcan and Vulcan anatomy in case I was injured on a mission, so I came by her quarters," Spock tried to explain.
"Vulcan anatomy my ass," Bones muttered.
"So, is my sister here, or is she just hiding from me?" Jim asked as Spock then moved back out of the doorway. Alex appeared in her uniform, her hair up in a ponytail.
"I'm here. I was just looking for a book for Spock," Alex said.
"I didn't realize you had such a collection..." Jim replied.
"Yes, well, I have interests outside Starfleet believe it or not," Alex said.
"I'm sure you do. Would you care then to join me for dinner tonight? We haven't been able to talk much since you joined the Enterprise..." Jim looked at Bones and Spock as well.
"You two are invited of course," he added.
"Oh, I'd be happy to join and learn more about Vulcan," McCoy said with a grin. Alex quickly glanced at Spock.
"I suppose I can," Alex said.
"I would be happy to join you captain," Spock said. Kirk grinned.
