Alex went back to her quarters after talking with Amanda. She was surprised what she had to say about her and Sarek, and how happy she seemed to be when Alex asked about them.
She wondered how she might impress Spock somehow. They seemed to have had their first argument and she wanted to make it up to him. She was lost in thought when she heard her brother hail her on her comm. She pressed the button to respond a moment later.
"Yes captain?"
"I need to inspect Sarek's ship more in order to help determine who attacked them. I need you to join the landing party since McCoy is still out."
"Okay I'll be right there," Alex said.
"Kirk out." Alex shook her head as she heard her last name. It was still odd to hear it like that. She grabbed her emergency supplies that were needed and headed to the transporter room. Spock however, was waiting outside her room. She sighed.
"Spock, I'm sorry but I've got to join the landing party," she said as she tried to walk past him.
"I'd like to talk to you when you get back," he said as he stepped aside. Alex nodded her head.
"I'd like to as well. But I'm sorry I have to leave," she said as he nodded his head.
"I understand. Good luck," Spock said as she started to leave again. Alex hopes she wouldn't need any luck.

She felt a little better after seeing Spock as she met everyone in the transporter room. She saw her brother and three of security. Scotty was standing by.
"Now I don't expect a problem, but don't be afraid to stun any unexpected attackers." He gave a couple other instructions before seeing Alex.
"This will be your first mission alone correct?" Alex fidgeted with her med bag. She didn't need to be reminded of how little experience she had unlike McCoy right now.
"Yes sir."
"I'm sure you'll do fine. However, you are the senior officer out of this group, so I expect you to be on your best behavior."
"Yes sir. I'll do my best." Jim smiled.
"Alright sis, don't have to be so formal all the time. Just do some basic scans, see if you pick up on anything." She nodded her head as they got on the platform.
"Energize Mr. Scott," Alex said as she looked at the engineer.
"Energizing now." Alex felt the familiar sensation take her away to a different world.

Note: So I've got a vague idea of what I want to do with this now. I hope to post it within the week. It's sort of inspired by a song I will post in the next chapter. Thanks for reading!
