Spock checked on Alex a couple days later. He was anxious to see her as his plan came together. McCoy would be the only other person there, Chapel had the day off. Bones insisted that Alex stay in Sick Bay for a couple days for close monitoring before releasing her to her quarters.
The door opened as Spock went in. Alex sat up as she saw him and smiled. She had been reading Romeo and Juliet again Spock noted. Spock saw the doctor out of the corner of his eye as Bones left the room.
"Anything more exciting happening out there?" Alex asked as she shut the book.
"I'm afraid the excitement may be more in here," he said as Alex frowned at him.
"Spock are you okay?" She asked as he was at her bedside and got down on one knee. She gasped as she saw him pull out a ring.
"I'm more than fine. Alexandria Victoria Kirk, will you marry me?" Spock asked, his heart beating irregularly. Alex leaned down to him and forgot the book completely as it fell.
"Oh Spock! Yes!" Alex smiled the brightest she ever had, and grabbed Spock in a slightly forced hug. He eventually returned it after the shock, and kissed her lips. They broke apart and Spock put the ring on her finger. Alex felt tears in her eyes as they then heard McCoy's voice.
"Can we come out yet?" Alex gave Spock a confused look.
"Who all just heard that?" She stuttered. A gold shirt emerged from Dr. McCoy's office, followed by the doctor himself, and he carried a bottle of wine.
"Just Spock's future brother in law," Jim grinned as they came out.
"You knew before me?" Alex said.
"Who do you think gave Spock the idea? Besides, with all this Sick leave, you'll have time to plan the wedding," he smiled as Alex blushed.
"Did you get me hurt just so I could plan a wedding?" She teased.
"Well, it wasn't my ideal plan," Jim replied.
"Can we see the ring already? Nurse Chapel will be dying to know anyway," Bones said as Alex moved her hand herself to look at it. It was perfect and she wondered how Spock managed to get an earth ring while they were in deep space. She decided it didn't matter right now as they admired it.
"It is beautiful Spock. Never thought a Vulcan could pick a ring out," Bones said.
Spock raised an eyebrow.
"Was that a compliment Doctor?"
"Don't get too used to it Spock. And, I'm just warning you two already, I don't want to have to worry about chasing a little Vulcan around the ship in a few months... I can hardly handle Spock and Sarek," Bones rattled on. Spock and Alex blushed as they shared a look.
"Duly noted doctor," Spock finally managed to choke out.Note: Because I wanted something happy, so I finally wrote this :) also, after having read this chapter, do you guys want me to keep posting new chapters here or in a new story after the wedding? I don't have a lot of plans yet, just wanted to update it. :)
