Lunch with the Kings and the Galuras

It is Christmas yet again, Glaiza and I helped prepare lunch for our family, this time Bianca and her family will join us. Which was perfect time to announce our engagement. Glaiza and I chopped the ingredients for Mom's recipes she intended to make, occassionally whispering sweet nothings to each other.

"Mom, tignan mo tong si Rhian at si Glaiza oh, kanina pa naglalandian." Sumbong ni Ate Nadine kay Mommy.

"Hay naku, ganyan talaga ang mga bagong engaged na couples." Mom said as she shook her head.

"Mom! Hindi naman. Namiss ko lang tong lablab ko." I said laughing at both Mom and Ate Nadine. 

"Opo Tita, namiss ko din po itong Mahal ko eh." Glaiza smiled at them both.

"Call me Mommy from now on. You'll be part of our family soon." Mom smiled. 

"Mom, we're taking it slowly. Don't rush her." I admonished Mom. 

"Anak, you already placed a ring on her finger, kulang na lang eh kasal." Mom said. 

"Mom! Don't scare Glaiza." I admonished her one more time. 

Pero it seems like Mom and Ate Nadine won't stop teasing me anytime soon. I looked at Glaiza apologetically, she just smiled and rode along. 

"Mommy, Ate. Maraming salamat po for welcoming me into your lives, I can't wait to marry her. Pero we need to work things out pa po, kaya matagal pa kami bago ikakasal nyan ni Rhian." She smiled at Ate and Mommy. 

"We understand, but you two need to hurry and give us a grandchild." Mom beamed at Glaiza. 

"Ahem.. Mommy, medyo hindi pa po kami ready ni Rhian, emotionally as well as physically and financially. We want to be financially stable, self-made and sure of ourselves po." Glaiza said.

"Mom! Grabe kayo sa amin. Eto si Ate, kelan kayo magpapakasal ni Kuya Jaime?" I said changing topics.

"We're busy pa bunso. So much work at the brewery, his career is taking flight. Pero back to you bunso, bigyan mo na daw ng apo si Mommy." Ate Nadine answered coolly as she chuckled at my misery.

"Aysh! Ate!!!" I whined.

"Dali, ako magiging doctor nyo." Ate said laughing.

"Ate, soon po." Glai answered for me dahil kita nito na namumula na ang pisngi ko.

Nothing was said anymore at that point, minsan talaga ang galing mang-alaska nila Mommy at Ate e. Parang ngayon. After helping out in the kitchen Glai and I went to the Garden, where a long table was set up in the patio where we will be having lunch. Glai and I set the table up, Glai was holding the plates at ang mga kubyertos. Nakasunod lang ito sa akin. It didn't take long for her to speak up about the kitchen incident.

"Mahal, you know I have a lot of plans pa for my family right?" She asked me.

"Yes, lablab, I know." I said to her.

"And that I want to do things for myself pa diba?" She asked me.

"Yes. I know." I said smiling at her.

"So, okay lang ba sayo kung matagalan pa bago tayo magpakasal?" Glai asked me.

"Okay lang lablab, I'm not in a hurry. I honestly just wanted you to know that someday, I want to marry you." I said smiling.

"Phew! Oh my God! I thought you were just doing it kase nagselos ka so binakuran mo na ako." She said chuckling.

"Let's think of it this way, the engagement ring for now is just a promise ring, a promise of my love and commitment to you, I promise to work through my fears for you." I said to her.
