The 100th Annual Hunger Games

Training Day 1

Tricia Underwood POV

I run into the training center and walk to the archery station.

"Hello!" says one of the trainers.

"Hi." I say back to her.

"Are you a bow and arrow, crossbow, or slingshot gal?"

"I'm good at a bow I just need to get better at aiming."

"Ok well try this." she says and hands me a black bow and quiver filled with about twenty arrows.

"Ok"

I load the arrow and pull back. I aim for the center of the chest on the target in the shape of a person then I shoot. Instead of it hitting the center, it hits the neck.

"Good job!" yells the trainer.

"No I missed you idiot!" I yell in frustration.

"What are you talking about?" she asks confused.

"I was aiming for the chest! I missed!"

"Now I see. You just aimed wrong. Look you keep the end at your cheek the head tilt so you can aim better and then let go!" she says pointing at my face.

"Ok I'll try." I say calmly as I load my arrow and then raise the bow.

I aim the way she told me to do and aim for the center of the chest. I let it fly and it enters the bullseye where I was aiming for.

"Fantastic! Again!"

Summer Harris POV

I'm walking to the knife throwing station with Matthew in the training center. Once I get there, I pick up a shirt with pockets that hold knives and then walk into a room and Matthew turns to watch. Within ten seconds, holographic beams turn and spin around me then becomes a man with two axes.

The hologram throws one of them at me. I dodge the axe and throw a knife and it enters where the eye would be. Then another one appears five feet away from me with a sword and starts swinging it at me. I then duck down when he tries to swing at my head then stab his foot and jump back up and throw it at his chest. The next one is on a platform high above my head and has a bow and arrow loaded at me than shoots it. I make a backflip and dodge the arrow and throw a knife at his leg. He falls of the platform and lands on the head. I hear clapping from the other careers and I see others with fear in their eyes

Clay Lawhead POV

I'm not supposed to be here. I never wanted any of this. To be in the games. I thought I was safe. I hunted illegally because my family was dying of hunger. How?

I stand in the training center with an axe in my hand. I'm in the line to for axe combat. I'm third in line and I see Tripp Markel from District 12 in the simulator. He killed four holograms and four dummies. Five of them he threw at and the other three he swung at.

"Next up is Lydia Polly." the trainer says.

That's the girl from my district. She's nuts. All she does is axes and sometimes obstacles, medicine, hunting, and what's poisonous and what's not plants, nuts, and bugs stations but mostly axes.

She walks in and grabs an axe of the rack and she only asks for five dummies. Then the lights dim.

Lydia Polly POV

Once the lights dim I hear to my right a dummy comes to life and starts swinging viciously at me with its sword. I then duck and cut of it's leg from the knee down. It lies on the grown squirming like a wuss. I raise my axe and bring it down on its little face.

The next one has a bow and arrow and I throw at it. The bow and arrow inside it falls of and I run to the bow and shoot at it's head.

The next on has throwing knives and throws one at me and almost hits my head as I duck by an inch then it throws another one and I can tell it's aiming at my chest. I put the bow down, pick up my axe and throw. It hits the chest and falls to the ground.

I have two more dummies to kill and then I yank the axe outside the dummy and two feet behind me another one appears and I swing viciously at it and slam it to the ground then behead it.

The last one has an axe and it throws it at me, I make a twirling dodge and as the axe passes me, I throw the axe without hesitation and then it impacts the skull.

I turn around and see other tributes feared faces. I smile.

Frances Powell POV

I stand in line with the other tributes by the archery station. Tricia, from District 1 just finished and is going to the hunting station. Gray Burkhart, from District 6, is in front of me. He walks to the easy targets and I walk to the simulator. Ivie Cullen-Dean walks to the easy targets also.

"Pick a bow." says the trainer to the right of me.

I see a black and silver bow on a rack and grab it. I walk in and ask for three holograms.

I look to my left to see Gray and Ivie doing good on the easy targets making bulls-eyes on the Xs. I walk in and load an arrow. The lights dim and I start to walk around, turning my head to see if a hologram has appeared yet.

Then all of a sudden, three appear at the same time and one throws a knife, one shoots an arrow, and one throws a spear all at the same time. The first thing I do is I drop to the floor and shoot an arrow at the one with the bow.

Next I shoot the one with the spear then quickly reload the bow with another arrow and I shoot the last one with the throwing knives in the head.

Andrea Caceres POV

I walk to the spear section and surprised to only see Clay Lawhead, the boy from District 7 here. He seems to be pretty good with a spear including an axe. And I've seen him in obstacles before. He seems to be very fast also so I better get to the spears before he does.

Anyway the boy from my district is at the knife throwing station and after this I go to the hunting station then if possibly maybe fire building and tracking.

I pick up a spear and throw. I miss the target by a foot maybe and I hear Clay from my right, laugh then throw and hit the target where the head would be then he yanks it off the target and lays it on the rack and goes to the tracking station.

I pick up the spear he put down on the rack and I throw it. This time it hit stomach but on the rib cage.

After a while I get better and better so then I move on to the hunting station.
