When I returned back to class, I kept feeling Jake's cold stare in my direction. I never once looked up to meet it though. It wasn't until class was over that I found the courage to deal with this. He had to listen to me. When just about every student left class, I stood up and walked to the front of class with Nolan. I spent enough time trying to gather my things very slowly. "Mr. Pierce, can I speak with you?" Nolan looked at me curiously, quickly reassured by my smile. Jake was tense as he eyed me.
"Absolutely," he muttered to me. Nolan kissed my cheek as he walked to the door.
"I'll save you a seat," he told me. I nodded with a smile. When Nolan left, Jake closed the door a little harshly. He locked it before turning to face me. He sighed as he leaned up against the door with his arms folded.
"What do you want, Blair?" Hearing him call me by my first name was somewhat of a relief. I approached him slowly, frowning at his behavior.
"Why are you punishing me?" He scoffed as he ran a hand through his hair in a stressful way it seemed.
"You think I'm punishing you?" He folded his arms again, giving me that same hard look as before. I took another step towards him.
"I know you are," I told him, sounding angry and desperate. I shook my head at him, seeing him not react the way I had hoped he would... The way I had imagined he would. "Jake, I said I was sorry."
"Yes, I heard you the first hundred times."
"Then hear me again, because this is the last time I'm saying it." I took a deep breath, feeling unsure of my own words I was about to say. "I'm sorry that I told Jill about us. I know how it may seem like a problem, but you need to trust me that it isn't. I trust her."
"You said you hated- "
"I know what I said. You'd know why I trusted her with this if you had just listened to me. You just shut me out and wouldn't even talk to me. You never let me explain. Listen to what I have to say because I'm done apologizing... " He didn't say anything which was worrisome. I stood there, letting the second bell ring without caring. It was just me and him here. When he opened his mouth to speak, nothing came out. He was that mad, that he was speechless. I moved closer, unfolding his arms. He let me which I hadn't really expected. I wrapped his arms around me, noting that he kept them behind me loosely. I wrapped my arms around his neck and stared up at him. He had to give in to my pleas. After what felt like forever, he sighed and then held me tighter. I smiled somewhat.
"Talk," he mumbled to me. I nodded quickly, thankful he was giving me the chance to tell him everything. I told him my entire conversation with Jill that had to do with what happened during the summer. I told him how guilty I was and how it was all my fault. I told him that I wrongfully accused them and hurt them both. When I was done explaining, he seemed to see why Jill and I were friends again. He could see that she was the one person that I go to for everything and she was trustworthy. He also could see that I was conflicted.
"That's everything... "
"Does Dean know you know?' I shook my head, feeling him stroke my back. It was comforting. "Do you plan on telling him?" That's where the problem lay...
"He's happy with Bailey. I want him to move on and be happy, but then I feel like garbage knowing that he's moving on because he had too. He deserves an apology... I hurt him and he... he let me. He let me hate him." Why after all this time had Dean continued to let me hate him?
