Chapter 19

Everywhere was full of life, my ears felt as if they were going to pop. Music was unrecognisable, I was unable to identify it yet it felt catchy and danceable to. I had never danced on land, to mermaids it was just swimming with grace in the water, dancing is what humans called having a good time.

"Come on, il introduce you to a few people" He told me, Zach took hold of my hand and guided me around showing me to each individual land person. I smiled and then we met a large group of land boys all huddled together, laughing talking and shouting. "These are my old swim team members, Matthew, Nathan, Joe, Scott, Noah, Tyler, Link and Michael" He told me, his hand guided to each land boy, the last boy Michael winked at me.

Such a common land persons thing, I smiled back and walked away with Zach by my side guiding me, we then stopped by two girls "These are Lily and Shannon, they work with me as a lifeguard" He said then he faced the two land girls "Girls meet Lyla, she's the principals niece"

"Hi!" The land girls said, I studied the girls. Not showing too much skin, blonde and brunette such a common combination. Then we said our goodbyes and moved outside, a huge pool. But this was still tiny compared to The Ravine, people were inside it playing and laughing. One girl splashed water in our direction, I ducked and so did Zach.

"Got a fear of water?" I asked.

"Nope" He shuddered "Just don't want to get wet. But you got a fear of water?"

I shuddered "Of course not! Just don't want to get wet, that's all"

He nodded and we slowly backed away from the pool, then the land boy Luke started walking over to us. He was soaking and wet, showing as much skin as a merman would plus legs. "Hey Zach!" The land boy Luke shouted.

"That's my best friend Luke" He whispered in my ear, Luke ran over.

"Hey Lyla. Didn't realise you were gonna come" Luke said to me. "I think pizza has arrived, Shayla did order sushi and some fish too"

I smiled at the word fish, "I'm gonna go get some tuna, see you in a minute!" I rushed inside to find the food, I was starving. When everybody heard about pizza, they rushed inside leaving only Luke and Zach outside.

ZACHS POV

"I'm surprised she actually came" Luke snapped at me "And I'm surprised you came, a pool party too? You could pop a tail any second!"

"I'm being careful!" I told him "Lyla doesn't suspect a thing, only a small amount but it's nothing! Everything is taken care of"

Luke folded his arms. It was only the other day when Luke was pleased I was going and bringing a girl who was not Shayla to a party. "I get that you are happy with Lyla. But take it easy, something about her is different" He said.

Now I folded my arms across my chest "Now can you see why I like her? She's not a wannabe Shayla, doesn't wear slutty clothes and she's a nice chick!"

Luke huffed and backed up a step "Whatever Fishboy" and then all at once he pushed me into the pool
